After its discovery, people started eating the fruits mainly during famine and leisure not until the coming of missionaries and the Indian merchants who introduced the commercialization of coffee. The missionaries used to normally send coffee to their relatives as gifts.

This involves manually crushing dried coffee beans in a wooden mortar to separate the chaff, followed by roasting them over an open flame in a pan using minimal firewood.
