Jinnah International Airport - Karachi is the largest city in Pakistan and the capital of Sindh Province. Most international flights arrive here. We will meet you at the airport and transfer you to the hotel for check-in. After freshening up, there is an option for sightseeing in the late afternoon. Karachi is a city that never sleeps, with shops, restaurants, and tourist attractions open until very late in the evening.

SIGHTSEEING IN KARACHI

Clifton Beach - Karachi, the former capital of Pakistan, is situated along the Arabian Sea and boasts beautiful sandy beaches. We will visit the famous Clifton Sea front. Other attractions include the Tomb of Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the founder of Pakistan, the culturally rich and historical Saddar Bazaar, Karachi Museum, Mohatta Palace, and Frere Hall.

Mohatta Palace Museum - Karachi, the former capital of Pakistan, is situated along the Arabian Sea and boasts beautiful sandy beaches. We will visit the famous Clifton Sea front. Other attractions include the Tomb of Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the founder of Pakistan, the culturally rich and historical Saddar Bazaar, Karachi Museum, Mohatta Palace, and Frere Hall.

Lahore Fort - We will arrive in Lahore in the afternoon and check into the hotel. Later in the evening, after everyone has freshened up, we will take you for a traditional Lahore dinner at a very traditional restaurant. Lahore is the second-largest city in Pakistan and the capital of Punjab Province. It is the cultural capital and the heart of modern-day Pakistan. It has evolved through history, starting from the Jain religion, Hinduism, Buddhism, Greek influences, and Islam, to the British colonial period. There is much to see in Lahore, including the Badshahi Mosque, Wazir Khan Mosque, Lahore Fort, Lahore Museum, and the Pakistan-India border (Wagah border) where the famous flag ceremony takes place. The Wagah Border is a one-and-a-half-hour drive from the main city of Lahore. The flag ceremony starts at 4 pm and finishes at 5 pm. It takes place every day, with weekends being more crowded and busier. All the above attractions stay open until 8 pm.

Faisal Mosque - Islamabad is a purpose-built city, established in 1961 as the new capital of Pakistan. It is a lush green city surrounded by the Margalla Hills. The main attractions are Faisal Mosque, Margalla Hills, and the local bazaar. These attractions remain open seven days a week, 24 hours a day. The Parliament House and other main buildings can only be viewed from the outside. In the morning, we will visit Faisal Mosque and local markets, then head towards Margalla Hills in the afternoon.

DRIVE TO BESHAM (270 km) 7-HOURS

Karakoram Highway - Today we will start our epic journey along the Karakoram Highway. We will stop in Taxila for a few hours to explore the culture and history of the city. Taxila is an important archaeological site of ancient India, located about 32 km northwest of Islamabad. The origin of Taxila as a city dates back to around 1000 BCE. Some ruins in Taxila date to the Achaemenid Empire in the 6th century BCE. We will pass through other culturally rich and historical towns such as Hassan Abdal, Haripur, Abbottabad, and then Besham. We will make a few stops along the way for tea breaks. The Karakoram Highway starts from Hasan Abdal. Besham is a nice town to stay in, with a good bazaar and standard hotels. There are no tourist attractions in Besham.

DRIVE TO CHILLAS (200 km) 7-HOURS

Karakoram Highway - The road follows every twist and turn of the Indus River. About 190 km after Besham, the road reaches Chillas, which appears to be an ‘oasis in a desert’. Chillas has a unique charm. Here, we will have a magnificent view of three of the world’s highest mountain ranges: the Karakoram in the north, the Himalayas in the east, and the Hindu Kush in the west. Chillas is the gateway to Nanga Parbat (8126m), the ninth highest mountain in the world and one of the hardest to climb, earning it the nickname ‘Killer Mountain’. There are no tourist attractions in Chillas.

Upper Kachura Lake - Skardu is the capital of the Baltistan Valley. Baltistan was one of the oldest Himalayan kingdoms before being incorporated into Pakistan. It lies along the Indus River in the heart of the Karakoram mountains, comprising the northern edge of the Himalayas and nearly the entire Karakoram Range. The Balti people speak an ancient form of Tibetan and have a strong and fascinating culture. After breakfast, we will visit Sadpara Lake, have tea there, and enjoy the breathtaking scenery. We will return to Skardu town for lunch. After lunch, we will visit the famous Organic Village, where everything is grown organically. Dinner will be served at the hotel.

Karakoram Highway - From Gilgit, we will drive further up about 52 km to rejoin the Karakoram Highway. After joining the KKH, we will cross the Gilgit River and enter Hunza Valley. This area is the most beautiful section of the KKH. It is the perfect place to breathe in the crystalline air. One is overwhelmed by the fragrant breeze coming from poplar trees and orchards of apricots, peaches, pears, and grapes. We will stop for a tea break at the famous Rakaposhi Mountain (7788m) viewpoint.

SIGHTSEEING IN KARIMABAD

Baltit Fort - Karimabad is the capital of the ancient Hunza Valley. It has adequate tourist infrastructure, with plenty of cafes, hotels, motels, guesthouses, and bookshops. In Hunza, you will notice that they speak a different language. In Karimabad, we will visit the famous Baltit and Altit Forts, the local bazaar, and drive up to Eagle’s Nest. After breakfast, we will walk along the local small bazaar (a 15-20 minute walk) towards the famous Baltit Fort. Founded in the 8th century CE, it is on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Once the former seat of the Hunza kingdom, the majestic Baltit Fort is on a hill, offering the best view of the entire Hunza Valley. After visiting Baltit Fort, we will drive (a 15-minute drive) to Altit Fort. We will use jeeps to drive to the spectacular Eagle’s Nest at 2850m, surrounded by 7000m peaks.

DRIVE & BOAT TO GULMIT (45 km)

Attabad Lake - As we move further up, the Karakoram Highway becomes more spectacular. It rides high on the eastern side of the Hunza River. We will drive on the KKH to Attabad Lake. Attabad Lake was created in January 2010 by a huge landslide. It is a 2-hour boat ride to the other side of the lake. From there, we will continue our drive to Gulmit. Gulmit is a centuries-old historic village, surrounded by pillars of mountain peaks and glaciers. It was the summer capital of the ancient Hunza Valley. We will visit the old summer palace of the King of Hunza, which stands at the northern edge of Gulmit’s historic polo ground. Gulmit is a very small village; we will visit the local bazaar, the village, and old places of worship, now used as libraries, which also adorn the Gulmit Valley.
