The day began early, with a 7 am departure from Cairo. The drive to Alexandria was a chance to watch the Egyptian landscape unfold, a blend of ancient and modern that set the tone for the day.
Upon arrival, the first stop was the Catacombs of Kom el Shoqafa. Descending into the depths of these ancient tombs was like stepping back in time. The intricate carvings and the blend of Egyptian and Greco-Roman art were mesmerizing. Our guide, a knowledgeable and passionate local, brought the history to life with stories that made the ancient stones speak.

The Quit Bay Citadel was another highlight. Perched on the Mediterranean coast, the citadel offered stunning views of the sea and the city. No visit to Alexandria would be complete without experiencing its culinary delights. Our guide took us to a local eatery where we savored traditional Egyptian dishes. The flavors were rich and satisfying, a perfect reflection of the city’s diverse cultural influences.
Before heading back to Cairo, we made a stop at the Library of Alexandria. This modern marvel pays homage to the ancient library that was once the center of learning in the ancient world.
