- Ekambareswarar Temple - We will explore this magnificent temple built in 600 AD, featuring incredibly intricate stone sculptures. The temple has been rebuilt over time by the Pallava Kings and later by the Cholas. We will focus on two remarkable features: the temple’s Raja gopuram, one of the tallest in South India, and the Aayiram Kaal Mandapam, or the “hallway with a thousand pillars,” constructed by the Vijayanagar Kings. During the tour, we will discuss the legends and lore surrounding the temple, including a story about how Lord Shiva tested the dedication of his Queen, Goddess Parvathi.
