It is a very important scientific institution because it holds antiquities from different periods. The majority of the antiquities comes from the excavations of the surrounding area. During this 3-hour self-guided tour, you will have a unique opportunity to explore the well-preserved site where the Olympic Games originated.
The ancient Olympic Games were the most significant sports event in the Greek world. According to mythology, Hercules established the games to celebrate his success in completing the 12 labors.
During the tour, your tour operator will guide you to the hill outside the archaeological site of Olympia, where you can take photos of the ancient track and field. You will see where the ancient temples and famous statues once stood and observe where athletes prepared for various sporting events.
You will also have the chance to explore Olympia on your own.
