Amazing Place for Yoga and Ayurveda - Nepal Yoga Home is family. We came for an ayurveda retreat in 2022 and fell in love with the place and the amazing family that founded the business and their amazing staff. We came back in 2024 for a yoga retreat. The food is wonderful, the rooms in the new building are gorgeous, and the yoga classes are varied and interesting.
As a yoga school, the classes involve theory and different practices. It is focused on traditional yoga and not on "exercise." The ayurvedic therapies are personalized and effective. My knee and achilles both had injuries. The treatments made a significant difference.
I highly recommend Nepal Yoga Home as a destination on its own or as a pre-trek week to get into nepali shape.

Felt at home - My experience was slightly different, in a very good way. I fell extremely sick on my third day. I was quite worried and also disappointed that I won’t be able to attend majority of the classes and make the most of my trip. However, Prakash, his wife Shweta, Shankar as Rajesh turned out to be more than family. They nursed me back to health in no time. They constantly checked on me, took me the to clinic, arranged for blood tests, provided me room service and the list goes on. Prakash helped me with a special healing meditation and also gave me a special gift, a necklace blessed with reiki and healing.
Even thought I was sick, I witnessed how the rest of the participants benefitted from the courses. The teachers were very calm and patient with their students. They taught the reasoning behind each asana (meditation pose) and guided us on how to maintain going forward.
The facilities are excellent. Prakash and his team have taken care of the details very well, so you’ll be comfortable to say the least.

1 month with ayurveda and yoga at Nepal yoga home - I completed my yoga and ayurveda training here. My wife is from Nepal. I have always loved the nature, people, untouchedness and pure and peaceful atmosphere of Nepal. After spending a month here with my family, I can say that this is our second home, the staff and owners are another family of ours. The trainings are very organized and philosophy/practice is balanced, the instructors are very helpful, sharing, the employees are respectful and friendly ✨ it's a place you feel sad when you leave🤍

“Yoga, Friendship, and Unexpected Adventures in Nepal - January 2025 : Spending 21 days at Nepal Yoga Home was a transformative experience that I will carry with me for a lifetime. From the moment I arrived, I felt welcomed, cared for, and supported in every way.
The management was available at any time of day or night, always ready to help. When I fell sick during my first two days, a doctor came immediately, ensuring I was taken care of. The food was simply incredible—fresh, nourishing, and perfect for detoxifying my body, which truly thanked me for this period of healing and renewal.
The true highlight of my stay was the yoga teachers and the groupe of girls that followed the Yoga Teacher program. Each of them brought something unique and powerful to my journey:
• Chiranjivi was one of the most fascinating meditation teachers I’ve ever met, offering wisdom far beyond the mat. He’s incredibly soft and wise for he’s young age (only 24).
• Susmita (the doctor and also teacher) is not only an incredible doctor but also an intelligent and inspiring woman whose presence alone is healing. I hope there will be more women teachers in the future.
• Santesh pushed me beyond my limits in yoga, encouraging me to explore a whole new world I never imagined I could step into. Thanks to him, I now see yoga in a completely different way.
• On the last day of the teacher training program, I attended Deependra’s class, and in that single session, I learned more than in all my previous morning classes combined. He is a true yogi, incredibly wise and deeply intelligent. Practicing with him was an amazing experience, one that left a lasting impression on me.
I’m glad that I came in January because we were not so numerous, only eight, and I think that being more than ten would affect the quality of the teaching. So I feel lucky from this point of view, as it allowed for a more intimate and personalized experience with the teachers.
Beyond the practice itself, I had the privilege of meeting a group of wonderful women who were doing their Yoga Teacher Training. Their passion inspired me to attend their classes, and through them, I discovered even deeper layers of this beautiful practice. We shared so many special moments together—having breakfast every morning on the sixth floor with a breathtaking view of Kathmandu, learning from one another, and supporting each other on this journey. One of the most beautiful memories was celebrating Kelly’s birthday. We made an Irish cake and spent the evening gazing at the stars from the sixth floor of the main building, feeling connected to the universe and each other.
And then, there was Noémie, the wild and hilarious Canadian girl who made us laugh every single day. She brought such a lighthearted energy to our group, making every moment even more memorable. One of the most improbable experiences we shared was spontaneously deciding to run 3 km in the Kathmandu half-marathon—something I never expected to do, yet somehow, there we were, running through the streets of this incredible city!
We also had the chance to explore beyond the yoga home. A group of us went to Nagarkot for the famous sunrise—though nature had other plans, and we didn’t actually see the sun because of bad weather ! But the hike that followed was just as magical, allowing us to learn more about Hinduism and Buddhism through the incredible guidance of Shankar Battarai, whose deep knowledge and storytelling made the experience unforgettable.
This retreat has changed me. I know that from now on, I will try my best to integrate everything I’ve learned into my daily life, and I already feel a shift in my mindset and habits. I would love to come back—and do the teacher training program for myself (and my family) because I truly believe it is worth it.
That being said, I must mention an incident that occurred between one of the girls in our group and one of the yoga teachers, which affected all of us. I will be sending a private message to the management because I believe there may be a cultural gap at play. As yogis, we practice forgiveness, but professional ethics must be universal. Respect for the vulnerable, and especially respect for women, should be a fundamental principle in every culture. Unfortunately, in some societies where women are still considered inferior to men, certain individuals have used religion to justify behaviors that should never be accepted. This is not a judgment, but rather an important conversation that needs to take place.
Additionally, I will share some constructive feedback with the management in my private message. Working with people is never easy, and there is always room for growth. I believe that by improving certain aspects, Nepal Yoga Home can continue to enhance the quality of its offerings and make this incredible place even better for future guests.
Finally, a huge thank you to Shanti, Shankar, and Ambika for their patience, generosity, and deep knowledge. Their willingness to share and guide us through this journey was invaluable.
I have only scratched the surface of Nepal by visiting 4 (of 7) UNESCO sites, but this experience has made me certain that there is so much more to discover.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I hope to return one day!
