Adventures in the Himalayas - I have been back in Germany for several weeks now and I am still deeply impressed by my trip to Nepal. Trekking through the Himalayas in winter isn’t particularly comfortable for warmth-loving people, but if you can be prepared to get along with less, then it’s a wonderful adventure through which to grow humanly. The absolutely wonderful people in Nepal, especially my trekking guide and Porter made sure that I felt comfortable even during a physically and mentally strenuous trek. I will never forget many exciting impressions from this country, from adventurous streets to freshly cooked food, contemplative spirituality, breathtaking scenery to the open and relaxed people!

A tour that became an adventure - I use the following format. I award 3 out of 5 if my expectations are fully met. 4 out of 5 if the service provider and/or their staff take an interest in me as a person, and 5 out of 5 if, as a result of taking an interest in me, something unexpected is offered. I've awarded the tour 5 out of 5 as the tour fully met my expectations, the tour operator, and the guide engaged with me through conversation and further by offering the opportunity to dine in their family homes, which is a rare privilege in today's world, Lastly, a change to my tour plan unexpectedly offered me a number of what I call 'glorious' moments, experiences that only rarely occur. These are the long-lasting memories of an unexpected adventure. These are people (as Indonesians would say) have a 'good heart' and care about their guests. I've suggested that type of tour I would like to join on my next visit to Nepal.

best destination of the trekking in Nepal - Annapurna Base Camp trekking in Nepal Max.elevation : 4130m Type of trek : easy+Moderate Duration of day :7-12days Duration a day walking:5-6 hours The diverse terrain and variety of cultures of the region north of Pokhara make each day's walk a different experience and make the area the most popular destination in the country. Four favorite treks, each with minimum of about one week and maximum of three week treks,, Annapurna range, Jomsom and the Annapurna Sanctuary. Alpine meadows, moraines, glaciers and breathtaking views of the Annapurna range abound. The three hundred kilometer Annapurna Circuit combines the first two areas by crossing high altitude pass, Manang Thorang-La (5360 meters) and takes up to three weeks to complete. Part of the range forms a natural amphitheater known as the Sanctuary, ringed by Annapurna I, Glacier Dome, Gangapurna, and the fishtail - shaped peak of Machhapuchhre. This is a fairl strenuous alpine trek, whose aim is to enable the more active walker to quickly get up to snowline not far above our camp. In the Sanctuary, there are opportunities to scramble on ice and snow, and to make an excursion to Rakshi Peak.

Very well suitable for teens - We did the ABC trek in the beginning of April 2019 with our daughter age 14 and son age 12. They bothe loved it. We arranged nothing beforehand except reading which rote to take. You must buy trekkingpermit in Kathmandu or Pokhara othervice everything else is easy to arrange on the spot. What makes this trek ideal for families is that you can walk as far or short you want almost all the days (guesthouses every 30-60 minutes), the food is familier to us comming from Norway (pankakes, pizza and pasta etc all the the way up) and they have internet access at least on the lover huts. My daughter facetimed with her friend several times. Also there is hot shower on nearly every guest house. We tok a jeep to Kimche and walked for an hour steep up to Gandruk the first day. From there we went on to Chhomrong (used 7 hours). Both are charming villages with german bakery that they loved. Next was a long walk (8h) to Dovan. We stayed in Doven guest house which we found to be the best managed on the trip. Next day you cross snow a few times to Deurali. From Deurali it was only snow up to MBC. On the way down we walked from Chhomrong to Siwa in on long day. We arrived at 6 p.m. and still there were plenty of jeeps waiting to drive us down to Pokhara. We paied 8500 going up and 6000 NRs going down. Drinking all the Coke and fanta and eating all the chocolate and food and internet charge we wanted on the way we ended up paying around 10000 NRs for 4 people per day including everything (but no porter or guide included). Our children got several lokal friends a long the way and loves the monkeys, goats, chickens etc along the way. We met no other families with children and I really think that is stranger because we found it ideal for older children.

The Himalayas are magnificent - but take care in October. - The Annapurna Base Camp is a magical destination, but one that requires a high degree of fitness to best enjoy it. If you wish to travel there in October, you must be flexible. Firstly you must prepared to share your trek with many other trekkers - it is very crowded. Occasionally, beds may not be available in the guesthouses that you would like, even in shared rooms. Also, because of the Dashain festival, buses may not be running and restaurants/hotels may not have their regular staff available as they may who have gone back to their villages for the festival. Please insist on an experienced guide with good English, as this can make all the difference (if you speak English). Nepal Trekking Routes Treks and Expeditions did their best to rearrange the itinerary so that all the included items could be experienced. Remember - be flexible!
