Pokhara, a beautiful valley on the banks of Phewa Lake, is known for its panoramic views of Annapurna and Machapuchare (Fish Tail) in the north, Dhaulagiri in the west, and Lamjung Himal and Manaslu in the east. It is smaller and less hectic than Kathmandu, making it the perfect starting point for our trek.
Drive to Nayapul and Trek to Ulleri
Ulleri - We begin our trek at Nayapul after an hour’s drive in a private vehicle from Pokhara. After a short 15-minute walk along the banks of the Modi Khola, we reach Birethanti (1,015 m), a large village with many shops and teahouses. From there, the trail continues through the village and follows the north bank of the Bhurungdi Khola. The trail climbs steadily up the side of the valley to Hille at 1,495 m. After a short climb, we reach Tikhedhunga at 1,570 m. Today’s walk is relatively short and easy, a prelude to the trekking experience in the Annapurna region.
Trek to Ghorepani (4-5 hours)
Ghorepani - We move on towards the steep climb to Ulleri, a large Magar village at an altitude of 2,070 m. The trail ascends more gently from this point, through fine forests of oak and rhododendrons, towards Banthanti at 2,250 m. Then we trek towards Nangethanti at 2,460 m. After an hour’s walk, we arrive at Ghorepani (2,840 m).
Hike to Poon Hill for Sunrise and Trek to Tadapani (5-7 hours)
Tadapani - Early in the morning, we start an hour-long hike to Poon Hill at an elevation of 3,210 m, offering a brilliant mountain range spectacle and an unobstructed view of the sunrise over the high Himalayas. After spending about an hour there, we return to Ghorepani for a hot breakfast. Then we climb along ridges and through pine and rhododendron forests towards Deurali (2,960 m). After that, we descend to Banthanti and then turn off to Tadapani.
Trek to Chomrong (5-7 hours)
Chhomrong - The day starts with a steep downhill trek through rhododendron forests. Leaving Tadapani, we descend through the forests until we reach Gurjung, a village of Gurung people. From here, it is an easy walk to Chomrong at an elevation of 2,140 m. We leave Chhomrong and walk on numerous stone steps before reaching the Chhomrong Khola. We cross a suspension bridge over the river and begin an uphill climb to Sinuwa. Our trail passes through a beautiful forest to Kuldihar. From here, we embark on an easy descent to Bamboo. Overnight in Bamboo.
Chomrong to Dovan (5-7 hours)
Dovan - We pass through a bamboo forest, which is damp and cold. We then walk uphill on a sometimes steep trail. After reaching Himalaya Hotel, the forest opens up, and we are out in the sun again with astounding views of the glacial river below. It is a steep climb up through a much drier forest before reaching Hinku Cave. From here, our trail descends to a river before ascending to Deurali. We can enjoy spectacular views of the surrounding hills and Mt. Dhaulagiri. The vegetation becomes sparse, allowing magical views of the valley, the river below, and cliffs adorned with waterfalls. Overnight in Dovan.
Trek to Deurali
Deurali - We follow the valley trail in a steady climb. The trail sticks to a rocky cliff and is sometimes steep. We walk on a somewhat flat path for a while before ascending to Machhapuchhre Base Camp. From here, we get excellent views of Mt. Hiunchuli, Annapurna South, Annapurna I, Annapurna III, Gandharvachuli, and Gangapurna mountains. We then turn left and begin ascending gently to the Annapurna Base Camp. During our ascent, we can admire spectacular views of the Himalayan panorama. Walking further, we reach the base camp of Mt. Annapurna, which is amazing. We are surrounded by magnificent peaks, and the only way into this area is through the gorge we just hiked. Overnight at Deurali.
Annapurna Base Camp
Deurali - From Annapurna Base Camp, our trail rapidly descends past Machhapuchhre Base Camp, Deurali, Himalayan Hotel, and Doban, finally reaching Bamboo, where we spend the night. Today’s trek is downhill, so it shouldn’t be very difficult. Overnight at Annapurna Base Camp.

It looms 36 meters high and presents one of the most fascinating specimens of stupa design. Buddhanath is also known as Khasti, or dew drops, after an account that builders had to use dew to mix the mortar as Kathmandu was suffering from a severe drought during the construction of Bouddhanath. 2. Pasupatinath Temple , Pashupatinath is one of the most sacred Hindu shrines in the world and lies 5 kms east of the city center. The richly-ornamented pagoda houses the sacred Linga, or phallic symbol, of Lord Shiva. Chronicles indicate the temple’s existence prior to 400 AD. Devotees can be seen taking ritual dips in the holy Bagmati River flowing beside the temple 3. patan Darbar Square , Patan Durbar Square is an enchanting combination of palace buildings, artistic courtyards and graceful pagoda temples. The former royal palace complex is the center of Patan’s religious and social life, and houses a museum containing an array of bronze statues and religious objects. One remarkable monument here is a 17th-century temple dedicated to the Hindu god Krishna, built entirely of stone 4. Swayambhunath Stupa ,The Monkey Temple (World Heritage Site) Watches over the valley from the top of a hillock on its western side. The huge stupa is one of the holiest Buddhists sites in Nepal and its establishment is linked to the creation of the Kathmandu Valley out of a primordial lake.
