Situated on the South-West of Kathmandu Valley, Chandragiri Hill stands at a height of 2551 metres above sea level and is a mere seven kilometres away from Thankot. This hill has cultural significance in both Buddhist and Hindu religions and is historical in that it was part of the trade route used during the unification of Nepal by King Prithvi Narayan Shah. The route expanded from Kulekhani, Chitlang, Chandragiri Pass, Thankot to inside Kathmandu. The Bhaleshore Mahadev temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva, crowns the hill. 

From the hill’s summit, one can appreciate a panorama showcasing majestic peaks from various mountain ranges including Annapurna, Everest, Manaslu, Ganesh Himal, Langtang, Jugal, Rolwaling, and Numbur within the eastern Himalayan range of Nepal. Additionally, it offers remarkable views of the entire Kathmandu Valley. The hill, swathed in a vibrant green cloak of vegetation, offers an untouched and abundant landscape. The comprehensive views of both the Kathmandu Valley and Himalayan ranges stretching from Annapurna to Everest make it seem as if the entire country of Nepal is visible from this hill alone.
