Arrival to Kathmandu
Kathmandu Durbar Square - It’s a day when you finally arrive to sunny Kathmandu and we have a briefing about trekking, meeting each other and preparing for the next day.
Fly Lukla, Trek to Phakding (2656M)
Lukla Airport Viewpoint - There’s no other way of putting it: the flight to Lukla is hair-raising indeed, but as you step down from the plane, you’ll be taking your first monumental step on the path to Everest Base Camp. After reaching Lukla we’ll hike towards the village of Phakding where we’ll spend the night.
Trek to Namche Bazaar(3450M)
Irish Pub - This morning right after an early breakfast, our trek truly begins. On the path from Phakding, we’ll cross rivers by suspension bridges. The villages along the way will set the pace and before you know it we’ll have reached the entrance to Sagarmatha National Park. The trail continues rising sharply to reach Namche bazaar. Here we’ll spend the night in a hotel with good facilities.
Acclimatization
Irish Pub - Acclimatizing is the key to a successful trek. And today we will acclimatize, while walking in the legendary Namche bazaar, with its restaurants, coffee shops, and pubs. We can visit Khunde Hospital, which was established by Sir Edmund Hillary. Or we can stroll up to the Everest View Hotel above Namche, where we can see the sunset over Ama Dablam, Nuptse, Lhotse, and Everest.
Trek to Tengboche (3870m)
Tengboche Gompa - The day begins with an easy walk to Phulki and onwards to Tengboche village, famous for its monastery; probably the largest in the Everest region. It is located within the Sagarmatha National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here we can see panoramic views that take in the whole range of the Himalayas, including Mt. Everest, Mt.Nuptse, Mt.Lhotse, Mt.Ama Dablam and Mt.Thamserku.
Trek to Dingboche (4410m)
Dingboche - Chhukhung Path 7 - Descending the trail, we will wend our way through lush forests of birch, conifer and rhododendron trees. We will reach Pangboche by this downhill path to Debuche crossing the Imja River on the way. Continuing through the Imja Valley and crossing the Lobuche River you’ll finally ascend to Dingboche. A bucolic scene awaits you here in this picturesque village with beautiful barley, potato and buckwheat field complete with grazing animals.
Acclimatization
Dingboche View Point - Another essential day is spent acclimatizing in Dingboche in preparation for high altitude with its thin air. This day is best spent exploring the village, where we will be able to climb a ridge located behind the village to see six of the world’s tallest peaks including Mt.Lhotse, Mt.Makalu and Mt.Cho Oyu. We will need our rest for the penultimate day of ascent tomorrow.
Trek to Lobuche (4940 m)
Lobuche - The trail will become more and more challenging, as we climb to higher altitudes. We ascend to the steep terminal moraine of the Khumbu Glacier. The trail goes through boulder-strewn slopes as we make our way up Chupki Lhara, a ridge that provides spectacular views. The next part of our adventure brings over craggy mountain terrain to Lobuche, a small settlement with views of Mt. Lobuche, Mt. Pumari and the Nuptse.
Trek to Gorakshep (5170m/Everest Base Camp (5364m)
Gorak Shep - Every step gets us closer to our destination this day, which begins with a relatively easy trek from Lobuche to Gorakshep. The subsequent, straight trail to Everest Base Camp is more challenging. The up and down route will take us mostly on a glacier path. From here we will get our first sight of Everest Base Camp and then we head back to Gorak Shep after an arduous day.
Kala Patthar (5545), Trek to Pheriche (4288M)
Kala Patthar - Kala Patthar is definitely the highlight of this amazing trek. The trek to Kala Patthar begins at daybreak to catch a glimpse of the sunrise over Mt. Everest. The day’s first light will illuminate your spectacular view of Nuptse Nup, Changtse, and Lhotse. Here you’ll get your best shots of Everest and its neighboring peaks. Later, we’ll head back to Gorak shep for breakfast and down in the direction of Pheriche.
Trek to Namche Bazaar
Irish Pub - Here is the turning point of the trek from where we descend back to Namche. The walk from Pheriche back to Tengboche is mainly downhill. After a good walk we will be in Namche, where we’ll spend our last day near the mountains.
Trek to Lukla
Tenzing-Hillary Airport - Straight after breakfast, we’ll trek back to Lukla via Phadking. We’ll revisit all the spectacular views of mountains, monasteries, and villages.
