Kathmandu Durbar Square - Today’s itinerary features a guided tour of Kathmandu, a city rich in culture and heritage. Highlights include the ancient Swayambhunath Stupa, also known as the Monkey Temple, which offers a unique blend of Hinduism and Buddhism and stunning views of Kathmandu. Next, visit the Boudhanath Stupa, one of the world’s largest, where the Tibetan community, Sherpas, and tourists gather daily. Experience the serene Buddhist mantras and observe pilgrims honoring Lord Buddha. The tour continues to the sacred Hindu site of Pashupatinath Temple, home to numerous small temples, statues, and ancient relics. Witness the open cremation on the banks of the holy Bagmati River, receive blessings from saffron-clad sadhus, and embrace the positive energy. Overnight stay in Kathmandu.
Briefing: In the afternoon, the group will receive a briefing about the trek. Equipment will be checked, and any necessary items can be provided, rented, or purchased. Once prepared, enjoy a welcome dinner with the group.
Flight to Lukla (2,828 meters) 35 minutes and trek to Phakding (2,780 meters) 3/4 hrs walk
Phakding - Prepare your trekking gear and pack your bags the day before, as you’ll depart early for Lukla, the gateway to Everest. Led by your trekking guide, you’ll take a scenic flight on a twin otter, marking the start of your adventure.
The flight offers breathtaking views of lush valleys, hills, sparkling mountains, winding rivers, and terraced hills.
Upon landing at Tenzing–Hillary Airport (LUA) in Lukla, you’ll meet other trek members and begin an introductory trek to Phakding. Following a traditional trade route, you’ll descend steeply to Chheplung village, passing stone walls, and reach Thado Koshigaon.
Cross a suspension bridge and continue to Phakding through small settlements, with views of Kusum Kangaroo, prayer wheels, prayer flags, dense forests, diverse flora and fauna, and a caravan of trekkers, climbers, porters, and locals in the Khumbu valley. Today’s meal plan includes breakfast, lunch, dinner, and an overnight stay in Phakding.
Trek to Namche Bazaar (3,440 meters/11,287 feet) 5-6 hrs walk
Irish Pub - Continue trekking along the majestic Dudh Koshi River towards Namche Bazaar, an ancient trading hub. Enjoy views of Kongde Ri Peak and cross suspension bridges, passing through the beautiful Benkar valley with waterfalls, ancient gompas, and lush forests.
At Benkar, admire Thamserku (6,623 meters) and the sacred Khumbila Peak (5,765 meters) before a brief stop at Monjo, the gateway to Sagarmatha National Park. Proceed through Jorsale village to Larja Dobhan, crossing a high suspension bridge over the Dudh Koshi and Bhote Koshi confluence, and embark on a steep trail to Namche Bazaar.
Along the way, enjoy views of Everest (8,848 meters), Lhotse (8,516 meters), and Nuptse (7,879 meters), providing relief during the ascent.
Namche Bazaar is a vibrant Sherpa town, ideal for acclimatization and day hikes, with stunning scenery and rich cultural heritage. Meals include breakfast, lunch, dinner, and a two-night stay in Namche Bazaar.
Rest day at Namche Bazaar/ acclimatization day
Trek to Tengboche (3,850 meters/12,632 feet) 4-5 hrs walk
Tengboche Gompa - Ascend to higher altitudes with a short, steep climb out of Namche Bazaar, then trek on a relatively level trail to Kenjoma and Sanasa through dense forests, enjoying views of Everest and greetings from fellow trekkers.
After the trail junction to Gokyo valley and Everest base camp, descend to the Dudh Koshi Riverbed and climb to Phunke Tenga, marked by water-driven prayer wheels. Rest here before tackling the steep trail to Tengboche.
The ascent to Tengboche takes 1.5 to 2 hours, winding through rhododendron forests. Take it easy on this uphill climb to avoid altitude sickness.
In Tengboche, visit the ancient monastery, famous for the Mani Rimdu festival, a large Buddha statue, intricate wall paintings, and peaceful monk chants. Enjoy breathtaking views of Kwangde, Tawache, Everest, Nuptse, Ama Dablam, Lhotse, Kantega, and Thamserku Peaks, with blooming rhododendrons adding color.
Meals include breakfast, lunch, dinner, and an overnight stay in Tengboche.
Trek to Dingboche (4,350 meters/14,272 feet) 4-5 hours walk
Dingboche View Point - Depart from Tengboche’s stunning sunsets and sunrises to the charming village of Dingboche. Descend through forests to Deboche, offering views of Everest, Ama Dablam, Lhotse, Nuptse, and more.
Continue down the trail, spotting Musk Deer, Monal, and Blue Sheep, and cross an exciting suspension bridge over the Imja River to reach Panchboche. Visit the ancient stupa in upper Pangboche, surrounded by trees.
The trail features alpine vegetation, scrub juniper, and tundra as you approach Dingboche.
The trek through Somare is relatively flat. After crossing a suspension bridge, follow the Imja River upstream, diverging from the Pheriche trail. Further along, reach Dingboche, where the Lobuche trail meets the Island Peak climb.
Dingboche is a quaint village with stone-walled houses, cultivation fields, and stunning views of Lhotse, Island Peak, and Ama Dablam. Meals include breakfast, lunch, dinner, and a two-night stay in Dingboche.
Rest day in Dingboche/ acclimatization day
Dingboche - Chhukhung Path 7 - Enjoy another rest and acclimatization day before reaching the trip’s ultimate destination. Take short hikes to higher altitudes to adapt. A hike to Nangkartshang Gompa offers breathtaking views and insights into heritage, including intricate paintings, Thangka, and Yeti scalp and hand.
Explore the valley formed by the mighty Imja River and the trail to Island Peak. A short hike to the hill behind Dingboche offers views of several six-thousand-meter peaks. After exploring the stunning surroundings and capturing memories, return for an overnight stay. Meals include breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with preparation for the next day’s trek.
Trek to Lobuche (4,910 meters/16,109 feet) 4-5 hours walk
Lobuche - Begin this trek section with a gradual ascent from Dingboche, passing cattle grazing areas and enjoying distant mountain views.
Trek past chortens, Mani walls, and stupas, with views of Taboche Peak (6,495 meters), Ama Dablam, glacial valleys, and vast landscapes before reaching Dughla, the last settlement before the base camp.
The most poignant section of today’s trek is an hour-long ascent to Chukpo Lari, overlooking the Khumbu valley, where monuments honor mountaineers who lost their lives on Everest expeditions.
Descend to the valley’s western side, walking over the Khumbu Glacier’s glacial moraines. Meals include breakfast, lunch, dinner, and an overnight stay in Lobuche.
Trek to Gorak Shep (5,180 m/16,995 f) about 3 hrs walk) and Everest Base Camp (5,365 m/17,600 f) 2-3 hrs walk.
Gorak Shep - Today is the day you’ve been waiting for! Head to Everest Base Camp, your destination. Be cautious of acute mountain sickness at this altitude and trek accordingly. Start early from Lobuche after breakfast.
Reach Gorakshep after trekking over the Khumbu Glacier’s lateral moraines, past the Italian research center, rocky paths, and avoiding ice pinnacles and crevasses. Ascend over Lobuche Pass to the section between Changri Nup and Khumbu glaciers.
Shortly ahead is Gorakshep, your lunch stop and overnight stay. After refreshing, head to Everest Base Camp via the rocky path and New Moraine Route. During peak season, the base camp is filled with climbers’ tents and camps.
The feeling of being at the base of the world’s tallest peak is indescribable. Capture memories of this extraordinary moment before returning to Gorakshep. Enjoy the stunning sunset from the base camp. Meals include breakfast, lunch, dinner, and an overnight stay in Gorakshep.
Trek to Kala Patthar (5,545 m/18,193 f) 2-3 hours walk and to Pheriche (4,280 m/14,042 f) 5-6 six hours walk
Pheriche - Prepare for another beautiful trekking day as you head to Kala Patthar before returning to lower altitudes. Before dawn, get ready for one of the most stunning sunrises you’ll ever see. Trek straight from Gorakshep to this small brown hill, dwarfed by the Himalayas, for a close-up view of Everest.
Ideal for photographers, enjoy views of Mount Pumori, Lhotse, Nuptse, Changtse Peaks, the majestic Khumbu Glacier, and Everest’s Southeast face. Reach the highest point of this black hill and capture as many memories as possible. After this extraordinary scenery, trek down to Gorakshep for lunch before heading to Pheriche.
Descend gradually from Gorakshep, through rocky terrain, exiting Everest’s vicinity at Dughla, and walking straight to Pheriche. The trek features a damp valley floor covered with moss, transitioning from alpine to sub-alpine vegetation, mostly downhill. Meals include breakfast, lunch, dinner, and an overnight stay in Pheriche.
Trek to Namche Bazaar (3,440 meters/11,287 feet) 4-5 hours walk
Irish Pub - Continue your return from Everest’s vicinity as you leave beautiful Pheriche for the bustling Namche Bazaar. This mostly downhill trek follows the torrential Dudh Koshi River. Take it easy to avoid straining your legs and ankles.
On this busy trekking trail, encounter fellow trekkers, porters, locals, and their pack animals like yaks transporting goods. Make way for them.
Pass through beautiful, dense forests, waterfalls, exciting suspension bridges adorned with prayer flags, flat and bumpy trails, gompas, monasteries, rural settlements, and local culture and traditions.
Water-driven prayer wheels, Himalayan viewpoints, rare wildlife sightings, and challenging stone steps lead to Namche Bazaar. Explore this ancient trade point and current tourist hub, resting in this charming village. Meals include breakfast, lunch, dinner, and an overnight stay in Namche Bazaar.
Trek to Lukla (2,828 meters/9,279 feet) 5-6 hours walk
Tenzing-Hillary Airport - This final trek section concludes your adventurous journey, which peaked at Everest Base Camp. Descend steeply from Namche Bazaar to the riverbed at the Dudh Koshi and Bhote Koshi confluence. After crossing a high suspension bridge, exit Sagarmatha National Park at Monjo.
Pass through beautiful Benkar, waterfalls, suspension bridges, unique villages like Phakding, Ghat, Nursing, and Chheplung, Mani walls, and prayer wheels, trekking up to Namche Bazaar.
The majestic Himalayas overlooking the trail inspire trekkers, providing purpose in the mountain views. Upon reaching Lukla, relax and explore the hotel surroundings if interested. Meals include breakfast, lunch, dinner, and an overnight stay in Lukla.
Fly back to Kathmandu (1,350 meters/4,430 feet) about 35 min flight
Kathmandu Durbar Square - Return to Kathmandu, the medieval capital, after an adventurous stay in the Khumbu Everest region. Due to potential weather disturbances, take an early morning flight from Lukla. Enjoy views of vast landscapes, lush hills, valleys, perennial rivers, and the glittering Himalayas during the 35-minute flight back to Kathmandu.
Transfer to your hotel for a well-deserved rest after a strenuous trek in the Khumbu region. In the evening, explore Thamel and its surroundings. Meals include breakfast, lunch, dinner, and an overnight stay in Kathmandu.
Final departure
