Three High Passess Trek - This is my third trek with Three Jewels and again a positive experience from my first email to Amber, throughout the trek and return to Kathmandu. As noted in the description, this is a serious trek with an extended period of time at high altitude. While I had prepared physically, the altitude was far more challenging than I had anticipated. As a solo trekker, I hade an amazing guide Pembe, and a porter Sangye who both cared for me from the moment I woke up until I went to bed. I could not have completed this trek without them and they were a pleasure to be with and extremely kind and generous. While I saw a few people doing this trek without a guide, I frankly think it is foolish. I have been trekking in Nepal before and this trek was far more difficult than I expected due to the terrain and altitude. Each of the three passes is an ascent to almost 18,000 feet with extremely steep descents, often with snow and ice. The passes are remote with fewer trekkers and no villages or homes for hours and at times it is even difficult to determine the trail path. Because of Pembe and Sangye, the challenges of this trek were not a problem and they made continual adjustments to the itinerary based on my pace, not feeling well for few days etc. This is the trek to do if you are looking for a deep and personal experience in the Himalayas. It was fun to be at EBC but the views from the trails on this trek are stunning! The Lukla flights this year Oct/Nov were especially problematic but Amber was able to get me to Lukla on time and Pemba got me on a return flight to Ramechhap the day after my return to Lukla when the trek was over. What a pleasure to have every single detail taken care of so that I could focus my attention on this amazing journey. Currently, very few flights are available from Kathmandu to Lukla due to airport construction so most flights are to Ramechapp. The road to Ramechhap suffered significant damage due to the recent flooding and large sections of the highway were washed away. It took just over six hours by van from Ramechhap to Kathmandu and it is a bumpy ride due to the damage so plan accordingly. I am already planning my next trek with Three Jewels Adventures.

Gokyo Ri - After last year’s breezy trek in the Langtang Valley, I was itching for a bigger challenge—the Three Passes trek in the Everest region. I trained like a beast, and my body was ready to conquer mountains. But this time, altitude hit me like a ton of bricks for several days. To top it off, the late monsoon rains decided to play spoilsport, grounding flights to and from Lukla for five days. September and October were a nightmare for flights this year. Sure, you could hop on a helicopter, but that’s a pricey ride. In the past, I always had my trusty friends by my side, but this year, I went solo. Well, not entirely solo—I had Lok, my guide from Three Jewels Adventures. Lok was my rock, turning a tough trek into a memorable adventure despite the altitude woes and flight delays. He worked his magic to snag early flight seats when others were stuck waiting. He made sure I stayed hydrated and ate, even when altitude killed my appetite. This was my third trek with Lok and my fourth with Three Jewels Adventures. Every trek was perfectly paced, with guides who were helpful, knowledgeable, and always ready to lend a hand. I much prefer Three Jewels over a big international trekking agency where you’re just another face in a group of ten or more. My altitude issues would have been a lot worse in a big group. I highly recommend Three Jewels Adventure!

Amazing trekking experience - This trek was amazing! I recently completed this trek with Lok as my guide. The trek is quite physically challenging, however Lok was amazing and supported me through it all! With the flexibility to adjust the hike based on circumstances such as weather or an individuals fitness level, Lok made the experience so enjoyable and easy. Additionally as the trek was just myself and him, he was lovely company and answered my countless questions about the culture, environment and more that we saw along the way! This is my second trek with Three Jewels Adventures and I would not hesitate to go through them again for future treks or recommend them to anyone I know coming to Nepal for trekking!

Family hike to Gokyo Ri & Renjo La Pass - Trekking with Three Jewels Adventures was the most fantastic experience! My whole family (dad/step-mom, ages ~60, and myself and my brother, ages ~25/27) met in Nepal for a once-in-a-lifetime trek. Amber and his team were so wonderful to work with -- fiercely reliable, communicative, and flexible. We felt very well-taken-care-of throughout our time, and also really enjoyed getting to know Amber and his team on a personal level -- they have so many interesting stories to tell about life in Nepal and their past treks. As a young woman, I felt very comfortable working with the whole Three Jewels team and would highly recommend others my age (or any age, really), to work with them. The team did a wonderful job of getting to know us, and understanding what we wanted out of the trek, our personal fitness levels and level of experience hiking, and then designed a perfect experience that met our needs. We also spent several days at Lawudo Gompa, which Amber organized as well, and I would highly recommend that experience; it was very impactful for our family to spend time together in that special place. Could not recommend this company more highly!
