Pre-trip Meeting and Biking in Kathmandu Valley
Bijay Rudraksha Shop - At approximately 8:00 am, a pre-trip meeting will be held at your hotel in Kathmandu to introduce your leader/guide. Following the meeting, your biking adventure begins around 8:45 am. A support vehicle and a professional biking guide will be available. The bikes will be assembled, and the journey will commence towards the northern side of the valley. The ride through the lush green valley via Balaju – Mudkhu – Chaurgoan – Jhor – Tokha – Budhanilkhanta (47kms) will take about 4 to 5 hours.
This is the finest single track on the northern side of the valley. The zigzag path through rice paddies and semi-rural villages offers a chance to test your skills on some excellent single track sections. The ride features sharp, steep climbs and delightful downhills. There are various route options, and your guide can assist based on your fitness and skill level. Lunch can be enjoyed at various restaurants along the way.
Drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara - approx 7 hours
Phewa Tal (Fewa Lake) - Our staff will collect you from the hotel at 6:30 am and escort you to the bus station. The bus to Pokhara departs around 7:30 am, with a 6-hour journey including a lunch stop. Pokhara, a beautiful valley on the banks of Phewa Lake, is renowned for its panoramic views of Annapurna, Machapuchare (fish tail shape) to the north, Dhaulagiri to the west, and Lamjung Himal and Manaslu to the east. It is smaller and more tranquil than Kathmandu, making it an ideal place to unwind in the evening.
Fly to Jomsom (2700m), Assemble the Bikes, then Ride to Muktinath (3800m) via Kagbeni (2900m)
Jomsom Muktinath Trek - Numerous flights service the Jomsom airstrip early each day before the Kali Gandaki wind intensifies by mid-morning. To acclimate to the altitude and weather, bikes are assembled upon landing in Jomsom, and the relatively flat river trail to Kagbeni, the border-town of the once-forbidden Kingdom of Mustang, is ridden.
Muktinath Temple - As the journey continues towards Muktinath, the highest point of this trip, the landscape becomes extremely dry and desert-like. You may encounter a few trekkers and pilgrims, mainly from India, heading to the holy temple with the eternal flame in Muktinath, fueled by a natural gas source. Reaching this culturally and religiously significant site with breathtaking mountain views is a remarkable achievement.
Ride from Muktinath to Marpha (2670m)
Marpha Monastery - With stunning views of Dhaulagiri and several other 8,000m peaks, the descent begins. Along the way, yak herds are passed, and the centuries-old lifestyle of the local people is experienced. The ride passes through Lupra, where black magic and human sacrifices (on deceased bodies) are part of community rituals. The day concludes in Marpha, a picturesque community known for its apple orchards. The flagstone-lined village of Marpha is famous for apple farming. Be sure to try some local apple wine and brandy.
Ride from Marpha to Tatopani (1190m)
Ride from Tatopani to Beni and Drive from Beni to Pokhara - approx 5 hours
Pokhara Lakeside - The descent continues towards Beni, following the Kali Gandaki River. A drive from Beni to Pokhara in a tourist vehicle takes around 5 hours. Enjoy and explore the beautiful views of Pokhara and its surrounding lakes during the drive.
Free Day in Pokhara
Lakeside-6, Pokhara - Enjoy a free day in Pokhara city to rest your tired legs. Relax by the lake, taking in the views, or embark on a brief sightseeing adventure.
Drive from Pokhara to Kathmandu (1345m) - approx 7 hours
Basantapur Tower - Return to Kathmandu on a tourist bus with a 6-hour drive. Enjoy a pleasant stroll and last-minute shopping in Thamel and Basantapur in Kathmandu. A farewell dinner in a traditional Nepali-style restaurant with cultural performances (dancing and singing with costumes) is hosted tonight to celebrate the hard work and achievements of the biking trip.
Final Departure
TIA - Vehicle service to Tribhuwan International Airport will be provided for your departure to your home country. Best wishes and warm regards are extended to you, with hopes of seeing you again in Nepal.
