Morning flight to Lukla (2,804 m), trek to Phakding (2,610 m) – 3 hours

Phakding - We start early, heading to Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu for a 35-minute scenic flight to Tenzing and Hillary Airport in Lukla (2,804 m). Upon arrival, a guide will meet us and introduce the porters before we begin the 3-hour trek to Phakding (2,610 m).

After landing, there will be time to explore the village while our Sherpa crew sorts and loads the trekking equipment. We then start our trek by descending towards the Dudh Kosi River, joining the main trail to Namche Bazaar, just above Chaunrikharka (2,713 m). The walk is easy, and after passing through the small village of Ghat (2,550 m), Phakding is just a short distance away.

Trek to Namche Bazaar (3,441 m) – 6 hours

Namche Bazaar - We begin the 5-hour trek along the banks of the Dudh Kosi, crossing this majestic river multiple times on thrilling suspension bridges adorned with prayer flags. After entering Sagamartha National Park, the trail climbs steeply, offering breathtaking views. Namche Bazaar, known as the “Gateway to Everest,” features many quality restaurants, hotels, lodges, shops, money exchanges, internet cafes, and a bakery. Namche Bazaar (3,441 m) is one of the largest villages along the Everest trail.

Namche Bazaar Acclimatization Day

Namche Bazaar - We will spend a day in Namche to acclimatize to the high altitude. We’ll take a short trek to a museum celebrating the traditional customs of the Sherpa people and hike up to Syangboche Airport around Everest View Hotel. From here, you can enjoy rewarding views of the Himalayas with stunning sunrises and sunsets over the Khumbu peaks.

Trek to Tengboche Monastery (3,860 m) – 5 hours

Tengboche - The trek continues along the rushing glacial waters of the Dudh Kosi, with magnificent mountain views. After 5 hours, we’ll reach Tengboche, where the local monastery can be visited. Inside, you’ll find incredibly ornate wall hangings, a twenty-foot sculpture of Buddha, and the musical instruments and robes of the Lamas. The group will observe a prayer ceremony either in the evening or morning, depending on the day’s trekking progress.

Trek to Dingboche (4,350 m) – 6 hours

Dingboche - From Tengboche, the trail descends to Debuche, crosses a suspension bridge over the Imja Khola, and climbs to Pangboche amidst thousands of mani stones. Our uphill trek continues for six hours, leading us to the quaint traditional Sherpa village of Dingboche, with its exquisite views of Lhotse, Island Peak, and Ama Dablam.

Trek to Chukhung (4,710 m) – 4 hours

Trek to Island Peak Base Camp (5,240 m) – 4 hours

Imja Tse - Today, we have a short 4-hour trek to the Island Peak base camp. Starting today, accommodations will be in tented camps for the next two days, with meals prepared by our professional chef.

Rest and Acclimatization Day

Imja Tse - We will spend a day here to acclimatize to the thinning air. We’ll also take a short trek around the base camp to prepare for the 6,000 m adventure tomorrow morning.

Summit to Island Peak (6,187 m) and Return to Chhukung (4,750 m) - 9 to 12 hours

Imja Tse - Today is our main adventure day. Weather permitting, we’ll start early in the morning to climb Island Peak (6,187 m). After Camp 1, we ascend through a gully and traverse to the right. After making our way up a wide stone field, we cross the ridge to the glacier and crevasses. After a safe trip to the top, we return the same day to Chhukung.

Trek to Tengboche (3,860 m) – 6 hours

Tengboche - Today, we follow the same route back down to Tengboche (3,860 m). Passing through Dingboche, Pangboche, and Diboche, the day’s trek will take six hours.

Trek to Namche Bazaar (3,441 m) via Khumjung (3,780 m) – 5 hours

Namche Bazaar - Leaving the mountains behind, our descent takes us from Tengboche Monastery to Namche Bazaar (3,441 m). We arrive back at Namche Bazaar in the afternoon after a 5-hour walk. We’ll enjoy an evening of conversation with fellow trekkers over a nice meal.

Trek to Lukla (2,804 m) – 5 hours

Lukla - Finally, we make the 5-hour return to Lukla (2,804 m), where the trek began. We’ll take time to reflect on the trek as a group and on the personal achievements of all who took part.

Morning flight to Kathmandu from Lukla

Kathmandu - On the scenic thirty-five-minute flight back to Kathmandu, you’ll enjoy a final glimpse of the mountains you recently climbed. Upon arrival in Kathmandu, we will return to the hotel.

Leisure Day in Kathmandu

Kathmandu - There’s much to see and do in Kathmandu and the surrounding areas, including Chitwan Jungle Safari, River Rafting Adventure, Kathmandu Shopping Tour, or Scenic Everest Flight. This is also a spare day in case of bad weather in Lukla.

Trip of a lifetime - When we arrived in Kathmandu, we had a briefing telling us what to expect in our upcoming trip. Very well explained. Madan was our guide for our adventure. He was good to check with us daily to make sure everyone was feeling well. He was organized and did a great job of looking after us. Our porters worked extremely hard and were always good to make sure our belongings were at the accommodations before we got there. Suman was also a guide and did a great job of leading the way. I decided that I didn’t want to spend the three days hiking out so I asked Madan to arrange a helicopter. He made a phone call and it was done. The day of the summit, we had 1000 m to climb. Pippy was my guide for this part of the trek. He was awesome. I found the last part of the thousand metres to be challenging. Technical and Harder than I was anticipating. But with his encouragement, I was able to make it to the top. I travelled with a great group of guys and the scenery was amazing. It was the trip of a lifetime and provided me with memories that I will have forever.

Glorious trek from Lukla to Island Peak - This company receives my highest commendation. I’ve trekked in India, Colombia, Bolivia and Ecuador - this Nepal experience surpassed them all. Ace’s planning, execution and attention to detail/safety was impeccable. If you get the chance to request guides, Madan (chief guide) and Sauman (assistant) will not disappoint.

Top notch experience with Ace the Himalays! - We were a group of 8 friends fromCanada, we have been doing summits all over the worlds for many years, our experience with Ace was amazing right from the beginning dealing with Sujan for booking and arrangements; our experience with Madan who was our lead guide was top notch , he was there to receive each of us who arrived separately at the airport to the end of drop off on our return. Madan ensured the entire expedition went as per plan and went over and beyond ensured every members individual was taken care of .. he was very eloquent in his English and great friendly laugh. He also joined us to attempt the summit Island peak with our team ! Suman who was our assistant guide always had a smile, were friendly and always knew our individual preferences and needs for food and drinks from day two to the end! Our porters Anil, Jeet, Gambhu and Bhupendra were so amazing with our bags and supplies always ensure our bags arrived before us and placed near our rooms and tents without fail! Over all I would also rate our mountain Sherpa excellent the main guide had also climbed the Everest! I would any day recommend Ace the Himalays for your trips in Nepal and Madan and Suman as one of the best rated guides we have experienced.

Impressive trek, that will reward you again and again. - Embarked on an adventure to island peak with the Ace group. What an incredible experience in the stunning raw mountains of the Himalayas. We had an exceptionally talented guide (Madan) who was both friendly and talented who seemed who made the tough times easier and helped us understand the unique culture of the kind Nepalese folk. Thank you to both Madan and Sauman for all the encouragement and sharing their knowledge and skill and making this trek so enjoyable! When you’ve had a great time, you want others to experience it too. I encourage others with a sense of adventure to do this trek. Prepare to be inspired.

First Island Peak Summit for Ace in 2024!!! Huge success! - With the highly skilled, meticulous, and organized guiding by Pemaba Sherpa, I was able to successfully summit my first 6k peak! Thanks to Pemaba’s thoughtful approach in training me on the skills I would need for the ascent, helping ensure my time at Base Camp was sufficient, and keeping in great communication with my trekking guide (Nima Sherpa), we had a great pace and reached the summit in just about 7 hours. Pemaba has over 15 years of experience in Island Peak and other 6k & 7k peaks. He is extremely safe and took great care to ensure I was as comfortable as possible throughout the journey (as impossible as this may seem 😅). Without Pemaba, this trip would have felt nearly impossible. But, with his professionalism and experience, we were able to come away successful as the first summit of the 2024 season for Ace which was nice! Thank you, Pemaba. I couldn’t have done it without you!!!

Two Passes & Island Peak - We did a private trek on the Gokyo Ri, Cho La Pass, Kala Patthar, Kongma La Pass and at the end the highlight Island Peak. I can only recommend Ace the Himalaya. Our guide Raj Kumar was very helpful and spoke good English. A really nice guy. It was very nice that we could choose our own pace and he even organized a flight to Kathmandu one day earlier for us instead of a spare day for bad weather. Our two porters Anil and Lochlan also met our expectations - very nice, young men. The Island Peak is very strenuous, especially the last 200 steep meters and unfortunately there is a high risk of rock falls. The sunrise, however, was unique and unforgettable.

Great climb of Island Peak - Had a great experience climbing Island Peak! Our trekking guide Raj was with us 90% of the trip and he made every day a joy. Always making jokes and telling us about the environment we were in. Our porter Krishna was very strong, we couldn't have done it without his hard work. The day we actually climbed Island Peak we were guided by the expert hands of Pemba. He kept us going when we were feeling depleted. I'd also like to mention two other guides from Ace we met on the trip, Madan and Kishur, both very nice people. This is my second time with Ace, and would definitely recommend other on going on a trip with them!

Perfect team - Amazing company, was very responsive with any questions before trip. After arriving to Kathmandu, did not have to worry about anything. Team (Raj, Chrishna and Pemba) helped all the way to peak and back with good sense of humour. Couldn't done without them. Tea houses on the way are very comfortable and food is just amazing. Thank you everyone!
