The Kanchenjunga Circuit Trek offers the opportunity to arrive at the base camp of the third highest mountain in the world, along a secluded mountain route perfect for trekkers who appreciate tranquility. Situated in the remote north-east corner of Nepal, Mt. Kanchenjunga is thought to be one of the most picturesque mountain ranges globally. The term Kanchenjunga signifies ‘Five Treasures of the Great Snow’, which refers to its five peaks. The 24-day round trip starts with a flight from Kathmandu to Suketar. The lengthy expedition through sparse routes also provides a unique perspective into the rural lifestyle of Nepalese in the country’s eastern region.
- The Itinerary details is in brief due to word constraints. Please visit Himalayan Glacier website for more details.
- Your safety is of paramount concern while traveling with Himalayan Glacier. Please note that your leader has the authority to amend or cancel any part of the itinerary if it is deemed necessary due to safety concerns. Every effort will be made to keep to the above itinerary; however, since this adventure entails travelling in remote mountainous regions, we cannot guarantee that we will not deviate from it. Weather conditions, health condition of a group member, unexpected natural disasters, etc., can all contribute to changes in the itinerary. The leader will try to ensure that the trip runs according to plan, but please be prepared to be flexible if required.
- We will be staying at Hotel Moonlight, a 3-star hotel in Kathmandu; and teahouses during the trek. All accommodations are on twin-shared basis. Single supplement will be served on request and will cost an additional USD 290. Understand that the Kanchenjunga Circuit Trek involves trekking in remote locations so the restroom facilities in the tea-houses will be basic.
- We will be served buffet-style breakfast in Kathmandu whereas all meals including breakfast, lunch and dinner will be available during the Kanchenjunga Circuit Trek. While on trek, we have breakfast and dinner in the tea-houses/lodges we spend the night and lunch on our way to the next destination. Nepalese, Tibetan, the more common continental and Indian cuisines are common choices in the menu.
- In difficult treks you are likely to walk for 6-8 hours, cross steep hilly terrain and occasional high passes with daily ascend and descend of around 500-1000m. You are likely to be on a remote environment with extreme weather in some days where you might be facing high altitude air with low level of oxygen and only basic facilities on some nights. Previous trekking experience, physical fitness and positive attitude are therefore essential.
- Autumn months (September-November) and spring (March to May) are considered as the best seasons for Kanchenjunga Circuit trekking. There is better visibility of the landscape during these months, the rivers are lower and the temperature is cooler on the first few days of the trek.
