Normal bus is good but Luxury bus is more comfortable and cozy - I choose to go Pokhara by tourist bus which was normal and clean enough. It took 9 hours to reach Pokhara by road conditions. However, I took a luxury deluxe bus to get back Kathmandu which was cozy and smooth travel.

Bumpy and beautiful ride! - This was a cool experience! I was seated on the side facing the valley and the trucks passing the other direction, which were beautifully ornamented. It had been raining all week, so the road was muddy and travel was slow (12 hours) but the bus was comfortable enough. Our bus did have a tire blow out (the highway is bumpy!) but staff replaced it quickly. There were a handful of foreigners on the bus, with mostly Nepalis traveling between the cities. The two bathroom and meal stops (around 9:30 and 12:00) were appreciated!

Then you can say "I did it!!!" - Always take the bus reserved for tourists, a little more expensive than the standard one (15 euros for the first and 10 for the second) but much more comfortable, and makes the experience of traveling 206 kilometers in 10 hours (with a puncture it was 11) more bearable. Alternatively 25 minutes and 70 euros ticket.

Kathmandu to Pokhara - Should I fly or take roads? - Hi am planning to go from Kathmandu to Pokhara next week. Am in a dilemma how to go? Am travelling with parents ( above 70 yrs) . Should I take flights? Scared about the track record of buddha air or Yeti air. Which one is safe? Should I take road- Concerned about the 8-9 hours journey? Please suggest . Thanks

Bus Katmandu to Pokhara - The trip by bus Katmandu to Pokhara is 200km. It took over 9 hours. The road conditions were horrendous. Road works everywhere, dust, frequent single lane travel, incredibly bumpy ride, and heavey traffic with many large trucks. However the scenery was beautiful, amazing and always very interesting. Not sure this offset the travelling discomfort? The trip certainly not for the faint hearted.

Not the best and not the... - Not the best and not the worst. Comfortable seats, not as good quality as the pictures showed though.

good - The busride was good and the people working were nice, but i didn’t see a difference with the normal local buses (the cheaper ones). Therefore i would say its a bit overpriced.

Ok ride with way too many stops - The bus was ok and relatively clean. We stopped about 6 times on the way, the first time basically just after leaving the city itself after 1 hour. Including all those pauses of 15 to 30min each, the ride to Pokhara took about 9.5h.

As expected... - Decrepit bus as expected. But that is what you get for this price in these parts and in the end it is part of the travelling experience. The trip took almost 10hrs, but that was due to the road conditions. Three food and pee stops included. On the positive side, checkin worked well. All details were communicated before on WhatsApp and it was easy to find the bus. Also, good and responsible driver who got us from K to P in one piece. The Swift busses looked in better shape. So I might try them for the next stretch of the trip.
