Kathmandu Sightseeing Tour

Kathmandu Durbar Square - As the historical and cultural hub of Nepal, Kathmandu has been a favored destination for tourists since Nepal opened its doors to the world. The city offers a captivating blend of Hinduism, Tibetan Buddhism, and Western influences. Enjoy a guided tour of UNESCO World Heritage Sites, including Boudhnath, the largest Buddhist stupa in Nepal, followed by a visit to Pashupatinath, a renowned Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. The tour continues to Patan, also known as Lalitpur (the City of Artisans), located 5 km from Kathmandu. Stroll through Patan Durbar Square and admire the architectural marvels from the Malla era. Key attractions include Mahaboudha Temple, Kumbeshwor Temple, Krishna Temple, and the Golden Temple.

Drive to Machhakhola (Approx. 900m/ 5-6 hrs)

Machhakhola - After breakfast, begin your journey to Arughat Bazaar. Departing from Kathmandu, travel along the Prithivi Highway, enjoying scenic river views and small roadside settlements. After a 7 to 8-hour drive, arrive at Arughat Bazaar, then continue to Soti Khola by jeep. After an additional 1:30 - 2 hours of driving through terraced fields and charming hamlets along the Budhi Gandaki, reach Soti Khola and proceed to Machha Khola.

Trek to Jagat (Approx. 1300m/ 5-6 hrs)

Jagat - The trail features minor ascents and descents, crossing the Tharo Khola to reach Khorlabesi. After more ups and downs, encounter a small hot spring in Tatopani. The valley sides remain steep until impassable, prompting a switch to the left bank via a suspension bridge. The trail is exposed and challenging in parts. After a brief forest path, arrive at Dobhan. Above Doban, the Budhi Gandaki descends a dramatic series of rapids. Beyond this steep section, the river meanders across a broad gravel bed. At Lauri, cross the river on a suspension bridge, then ascend a high path to the fields of Jagat. Overnight stay in a teahouse.

Trek to Deng (Approx. 1860m/ 5-6 hrs)

Nepal - Today’s trek begins with a climb over a rocky ridge to Salleri, offering stunning views of Shrigi Himal (7187m), followed by a descent to Sirdibas. The valley widens slightly as the trail continues to Ghatta Khola. Proceed upstream to a long suspension bridge in Philim, a large Gurung village. The trail turns north above the village’s lowest houses, maintaining a fairly level path across millet fields to Ekle Bhatti. The route enters a steep, uninhabited gorge. Descend to grassy slopes, cross the Budhi Gandaki, trek along the west bank, then cross to the east bank and back again. As the valley widens, pass through bamboo forests to Deng Khola. After crossing the Khola, reach the small village of Deng. Overnight stay in a teahouse.

Trek to Namrung (Approx. 2560m/ 5-6 hrs)

Namrung - Shortly after leaving Deng, cross the Budhi Gandaki and climb to Rana at 1910m. From a bridge, ascend to join a trail from Bhi, then head west up the Budhi Gandaki valley. The trail passes through forests and mani stones (prayers etched onto rocks), indicating entry into a high-altitude Buddhist region. After about 4 hours, reach Ghap, which straddles the river. Cross the Budi Gandaki several times, encountering several gompas along the way. As you progress, notice a change in climate and culture with the altitude gain. The higher altitude leads to alpine territory and more mountain views. The trail follows the river upstream through dense forest. After crossing the river at a dramatic gorge, the forest thins and the trail improves. Enjoy a pleasant walk and a final steep climb to Namrung, where your special permit is checked. Overnight stay in a teahouse.

Trek to Lho (Approx. 3180m/ 6-7 hrs)

Nepal - After crossing the Budhi Gandaki, trek through the forest, passing a stone arch to reach Lhi. Lhi is known for its chortens and barley terraces. Above the village, the Simnag valley opens with extensive pastures. Climb gently, crossing a large stream from the Lidanda Glaciers, to reach the Tibetan village of Sho at 3000m. Enjoy the first incredible views of Manaslu North and Manaslu main beyond Sho. Continue to Lho, a large village at 3150 meters with a charming monastery and numerous chortens and manis. From here, enjoy an impressive view of Ganesh I. Overnight stay in a teahouse.

Nepal - The Budhi Gandaki narrows to a stream as you continue to follow its upward course. Surrounded by spectacular mountains, Manaslu is particularly striking. Enjoy views of Samdo (Pang phuchuli), Nagdi chuli, Simnang Himal, Manaslu glacier, and other impressive peaks. The trail passes through wide pastures, juniper trees, and mani walls. After crossing to the east bank of the river, reach Samdo, the last permanent settlement in the valley, home to a yak-herding community. Overnight stay in a teahouse.

Acclimatization / Excursion around Tibetan Border via Samdo Village

Mount Manaslu - Choose between a hike to the back of Samdo village through a trade pass to Tibet or a longer hike to Gya-La pass north of the village, a more frequented trade route. Both options offer breathtaking views of Mt. Manaslu and other Himalayan ranges, including Simrang, Hiunchuli, Ngadi, Larkye Peak, and Cheo. Pass through seasonal herders’ settlements along the way. Overnight stay in a teahouse.

Gorkha - Today’s trek of approximately 5 hours follows the trail downstream of the Marshyangdi River, passing through scattered villages. As you walk through the Sangure Kharka pasture, enjoy stunning views of Mt. Manaslu, Lamjung Himal, Himlung Himal, and Cheo Himal. After crossing a bridge over Dudh Khola, descend into rhododendron forests and pass through a narrow valley to reach the high cultivated land at Karche (2785 meters). Continue across fields and make a steep climb over a ridge to reach Tiliche. Overnight stay in a teahouse.

Trek to Jagat (Approx. 1300m/ 5-6 hrs)

Jagat - Departing from Tiliche, cross the Marshyangdi River and join the main Annapurna Circuit with fellow trekkers, soon reaching Dharapani. Enjoy a gradual descent along the banks of Dudh Khola and Marshyangdi River. The initially narrow gorge briefly opens to Tal, a picturesque village formed when a landslide blocked the valley, creating a lake. The lake has since dried, and Tal now sits on the flat land. After crossing Tal, arrive at Jagat for the overnight stay. Overnight in a teahouse.

Drive to Kathmandu via Besisahar

Kathmandu - After approximately two weeks of trekking in the Himalayas, return to Kathmandu. A seven-hour drive via Besi Sahar offers the chance to enjoy both hill and mountain landscapes. The drive often follows the banks of the Marsyangdi and Trishuli rivers. Pass by beautiful villages with farming terraces on both sides of the road. Upon reaching Kathmandu, you will be escorted to your hotel. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Commence the Manaslu Circuit Trek from the historic center of Gorkha following a 7-8 hour drive from Kathmandu. The path ascends the Budhi Gandaki River valley, traversing a wild and unexplored region predominantly inhabited by the Gurung ethnic group. The trail encircles the fascinating Manaslu peak [8156m], crosses the Larkya-La pass at 5106m, and eventually joins the Marshyangdi river valley along the main Annapurna circuit trail. The journey then continues descending through the Marshyangdi river valley, passing through rhododendron and oak forests, and concludes at Jagat, followed by a drive to Kathmandu via Besisahar.
