Trekking in the outskirts of Kathmandu valley provides an excellent opportunity for those short on time but eager to experience the Himalayan vistas on foot. There are several paths to complete the circuit, with the popular choice being the Sundarijal-Chisapani-Nagarkot-Chanagunarayan route. You can take a bus or car to reach Sundarijal, a picturesque village at the northernmost edge of the valley. The journey begins with a challenging ascend on steps leading up to Borlang Bhajyang via Mulkharka, which involves a strenuous climb of 900 meters. After an additional few hours of trekking, Chisapani emerges at the pinnacle of the ridge bordering Shivapuri National Park offering numerous lodging and dining options. Although the Himalayas are distant, on a clear day, one can witness the impressive range stretching from Gaurishankar to Manasalu from this point.
