Christmas 2024 Poon Hill - The Poon Hill trek with Ace the Himalaya was an unforgettable adventure filled with stunning scenery, rich culture, and we completed during Christmas 2024. Weather was perfect for hiking. I highly recommend this trek for anyone looking to explore the beauty of the Himalayas. Whether you're an experienced trekker or a beginner. Sushanta enabled our small group to set the pace. Ace the Himalaya provides a fantastic experience that caters to all levels. Packing list and all pre trip communication was really helpful. A special thanks to Sushanta, Bipin, and Nisha for making this trek truly memorable. Don't miss the chance to witness one of the most beautiful sunrises in the world!

Top guide Sushanta, Porter Bipi and Ace the Himalayas team for an awesome flexible trek - We booked a five-day Poon Hill trek with Ace the Himalayas and the itinerary had a lot of downtime built in - maybe too much for us! But thanks to our amazing guide Sushan’s flexibility, we combined two days into one and completed the trek in four days instead of the scheduled five. In hindsight, three days would have been plenty for this trail, but the relaxed pace did give us time to take it all in - and over eat! The day before the Poon Hill climb, we reached Fishtail Guest House in Ghorepani by midday and then waited it out until the 5:30am start the next morning. While it was nice to slow down and enjoy the clouds, sitting around a fire for the rest of the day left us itching to cover more ground. After the sunrise hike to Poon Hill—which delivered stunning 360-degree views of Annapurna South, Machapuchare and Dhaulagiri—we decided to extend the day’s trekking and pushed on past Tadapani nature reserve to reach BS Guesthouse in Ghandruk by 4.45pm. This was our first trek, and coming from tropical Malaysia, where we’ve lived for many years, the idea of hiking in winter sounded daunting to us Brits. But it turned out to be far easier than we expected. The days were warm, even in winter, and the only time we needed the down jacket was for the morning Poon Hill climb. Maybe don’t overpack like we did! The final day was a super easy, and felt far too short at 1-hour 40 min, slow downhill walk to meet our taxi in Birethanti. A relaxed end to a straightforward and scenic trek. Guide Sushan was brilliant. Highly experienced, patient and endlessly kind. He shared stories of the different places and tales of chest-high, snow-filled treks across Nepal and local legends that connected us to each place. He adapted the itinerary to suit us, staying with a slower friend, while sending our porter Bipi ahead with us. A top coach, he always told us what to pack for the day, described the trail we were taking in detail, including the meters we’d be climbing. In fact, everyone in other groups leaned in and listened to our morning briefings! Most importantly Sushan recommended what to eat at each stop and shared his snacks! He also took so many photos for us and of us. He had such a great sense of humor with us and the porters. So much laughter up those stairs. He even got us a stocking of chocolates on Christmas morning 💜 Always so thoughtful, he made the trek feel effortless - and shared mind and body tips and tricks to keep other groups going too. We were happy it was off season and we got such an experienced and super kind guide. Finding him was our main achievement 🤣 Wouldn’t want to be guided by anyone else! If you’re considering this trek, know that it’s not as challenging as it’s sometimes made out to be—those hours are highly stretch out - three days would have been more than enough. Strava said it was a comfortable hike. But that said, Shushan and his team made the experience enjoyable and memorable. We’re already planning another trek—with all Sushan’s recommendations on what would suit us (should have spoken to him first!!) perhaps a longer, more adventurous trail - knowing we’ll be in the safest hands. Don’t be put off by the robotic replies at the start with Ace. It’s high end service and they give you free duffle bags for the porters to carry and sleeping bags for rent ($25 for the trip)—a must, as the rooms at night felt like fridges, ha! Thanks guys 😍

Fantastic Christmas memories made at Poonhill! - The three of us had the privilege of trekking the Ghorepani Poonhill trail with Sushan as our guide, and we loved it! The trek was originally planned as 5 days, but we decided to embrace a longer trekking day and condense it into 4. As someone who thought we’d be beginners in the Himalayas, we underestimated our own abilities and found ourselves capable of handling the trek with ease—and craving more of a challenge! This has inspired us to aim for a more ambitious adventure next time. Sushan’s meticulous care and attention were outstanding. He kept us updated daily with clear briefings about timings, terrain, and what to wear to stay comfortable—his advice was always spot on! His sense of humour, kindness, and passion for his breathtaking “office” made the experience truly special. Thanks to Sushan and his team, we are already thinking of our next trek. If you’re considering a Himalayan adventure we highly recommend Sushan!

View tour to Poonhill. Impressive entry-level tour of the Himalayas - A wonderful entry-level tour in Himalayan Anapurna area. The tour is well constructed and especially suitable for beginners, as the daily stages are short and allow many breaks. There are always great views, good food and friendly staff. Our mountain guide Milan and our porters Lila and Suke were always concerned for our well-being and accompanied us perfectly. Milan in particular has always stood by us with his knowledge and experience. Thanks for everything! Namaste

Poon Hill Trek - Our trek was fantastic. A great experience. Our guide Raj and Porter Poson (Kanji) played a very big part in making the trek so enjoyable and smooth. Without you it wouldn't have been possible. Thanks again at this point! The ascent is a little difficult on the first day, but definitely doable. In Ulleri I recommend getting up early to enjoy the sunrise and the view of Annapurna South. On the third day, the view of the surrounding mountains from Poon Hill makes up for any exertion and is a great highlight. Of course, you are not alone on the mountain, but there are plenty of opportunities to take great pictures. The view of the mountains accompanied us for the rest of the days. I particularly enjoyed the routes through the enchanted rhododendron forests. I would highly recommend Ace the Himalaya and would definitely do a trek with Raj and Poson again. You guys rock!

“Great Poon Hill Trek with Baburam (Babu)” - We had an amazing one-week Poon Hill trekking tour as a couple. Everything was well-organized from start to finish. Our guide, Baburam (Babu), was knowledgeable and friendly, and our kind Sherpa made the trip even easier. The food and accommodations were great, and we appreciated being able to communicate easily with Nepali people in English. The views and trails were unforgettable. Highly recommend this tour for anyone visiting Nepal!
