You will be transported to a hotel, where you will receive a briefing on the necessary procedures, the climbing route, and your climbing permit. Depending on your arrival time, you can spend your free time visiting nearby temples or relaxing.
Kathmandu Sightseeing (1400m, 4593ft)
Kathmandu Valley - After breakfast on another day in Kathmandu, our tour guide will pick you up for a sightseeing tour. You will have the chance to learn about famous monuments, culture, and art. The tour guide will take you to the following locations: Pashupatinath Temple, Shyambhu Nath Stupa, Boudhanath Stupa, and Bhaktapur Durbar Square.
Kathmandu to Pokhara (822m, 2696ft)
Pokhara - After breakfast, you will be picked up from the hotel and begin your private Jeep trip to Pokhara. Along the way, you will see more of Nepal’s countryside, filled with greenery, rivers, villages, farms, and stunning mountain scenery. The journey to Pokhara will take around 7 hours, depending on road conditions. Upon arrival in Pokhara, you will check into the hotel, have lunch, and then either relax or go boating on Phew Lake and take a nighttime walking tour of Pokhara lakeside. Explore, rest, and have dinner near the beautiful Lake Fewa.
Pokhara to Beni and Beni to Tatopani (2600m) Around 6 hrs drive
Tatopani - After breakfast in Pokhara, we will begin our journey to Mustang by private jeep. We will follow the blacktop road to Beni in the west, then continue off-road along the Kali Gandaki River. The Kali Gandaki valley, which stretches between the Dhaulagiri (8,167 m) and Annapurna I Himalayas, is the deepest gorge in the world (8,091 m). Tatopani is a small village where you can enjoy nearby activities and natural hot springs.
Tatopani to Kagbeni and Kagbeni to Muktinath (2900m, 3800m) Around 5-6 hrs drive
Muktinath - After breakfast, you will drive through the nearby villages of Kalopani and Ghasa, stopping to see apple orchards and the local market in Jomsom. You will then pass through Kagbeni village and visit the famous Muktinath temple, which has 108 taps dedicated to Lord Vishnu. The itinerary also includes a visit to the Buddhist monastery in Jharkot, offering breathtaking views of Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri, and Tukuche Peak, as well as the nearby town of Muktinath and Jal Devi. Finally, you will drive to Kagbeni for the night. The fire at Jal Devi can be seen lighting itself using natural gas.
Ghami Village (3520m, 11548ft) Via Syngboche Pass (4200m, 13779ft) About 6hrs drive
Ghami - After breakfast, we will tour Kagbeni Monastery. Kagbeni is known for its Pitri-Puja, also called Pitri-Moksastala, which is performed to save the lost souls of ancestors from hell and help them reach heaven, bringing blessings to the entire family. With a special permit arranged by our office team, we will enter the Upper Mustang area. We will take a Jeep across the Kaligandaki River near Chhusang Village and ascend to Chella Village, Samar Village, Syangboche Village, Bhina Village, Ghiling Village, and finally Ghami Village. The daytime scenery from Syngboche and other locations will be stunning. Feel free to park the Jeep to take photos and enjoy the journey. You will also see Tibetan culture, local activities, and farmer cottages with yaks and house caravans in the area.
Drive to Lo-Mangthang (3840m, 12598 ft) About 3hrs drive
Lo Manthang - Today, you will visit several important monasteries, including Mustang’s Lo Gager Ghar Gompa, Charang Monastery, Lo-mang Thang City, “Jampa Gompa,” the oldest monastery called “God House,” a massive red assembly hall and Gompa created in the late 15th century, and “Chodey Gompa,” the current center of the city and home to a monastic museum. You will also see domestic yak and cow caravans, as well as the scenery from and around Wonder Mountain.
Exploration day in Lo-Manthang and Chhosar
Lo Manthang - After breakfast, you will visit Namgyal Gompa, the Chhoser sky caves, and the nearly 3,000-year-old Shija Jhong cave in Mustang, which has been explored by archaeologists from around the world. There are other caves near Chhoser that have been used for living, meditation, and even burial. After your tour, you will ride back to the guesthouse in a jeep.
Drive Back to Jomsom (2743m, 8999ft)
Jomsom - Today, we will drive back to Jomsom, passing by several nearby villages, the Kaligandaki River, Buddhist stupas, and monasteries. In the evening, you can explore the local market in Jomsom.
Drive back to Pokhara from Jomsom (7hrs-8hrs drive)
Pokhara - We will drive from Jomsom to Pokhara.
Rest day in Pokhara
Pokhara Lakeside - We will arrange a city tour in Pokhara to see the beautiful places of Pokhara. You can also rest that day if you prefer to relax.
