• Lo Manthang - The Upper Mustang trek provides an extraordinary trekking adventure in Nepal’s remote trans-Himalayan mountain area. This 17-day journey starts in Kathmandu, featuring tours of UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Following this, there is a drive to Pokhara and a flight to Jomsom the next day, where the trek begins. Known as the Last Forbidden Kingdom, Upper Mustang only opened to tourists in the 1990s. While trekking in this region, trekkers can enjoy the distinctive tree-less landscape, rugged trails, and stunning views of Nilgiri, Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, and other Himalayan peaks.

Then we drive to Pokhara and fly to Jomsom the next day and begin trekking. Upper Mustang is also known as the Last Forbidden Kingdom because it wasn’t until the 1990s that tourists were allowed to enter the region. While trekking in the Upper Mustang region of Nepal, we can admire the uniqueness of tree-less landscape, rocky trails and views of Nilgiri, Annapurna, Dhaulagiri and other Himalayas.

• We will be staying in Yatri Suites & Spa or Similar in Kathmandu, Mt. Kailash Resort in Pokhara and the best available teahouses during the trek.All accommodations are on twin-shared basis. Single supplement will be served on request and will cost an additional USD 470. Please understand that since you will be trekking in remote regions, the services in the teahouses will be basic. We will try our best to arrange rooms with attached washrooms; however, teahouses in some places do not have attached bathrooms.
• During our trek, we can enjoy authentic Nepalese food as well the more common international cuisine (Tibetan, Continental, Italian, Indian, etc.). Breakfast and dinner will be served from the teahouse or from a lodge menu where we spend the night whereas lunch will be served on the way to the next destination. All meals will be provided during trekking while only breakfast will be available in Kathmandu and Pokhara. There will also be welcome and farewell dinners for guests.
• You are likely to walk for 6-7 hours each day over steep hilly terrain on usually rough trails but no real extremes of weather. Moderate trails entail reaching up to 3810 m with daily ascends of around 400-700m. You will also be facing high altitude air with low level of oxygen on some days and are therefore required to have a positive attitude and be physically fit. Previous hiking or camping experience is preferable.
• Spring (March to May) and Autumn (September to November) are the best months for Upper Mustang Trek. Although this trip can be taken during winter, the cold temperature might not be suitable for everyone.
• For this trek there will be one leader, assistant leader (4 trekkers: 1 assistant guide) and Sherpa porters for carrying luggage (2 trekkers: 1 porter). This arrangement ensures that should anybody in the group get sick, the trip can still go ahead as planned. We can run the trek for groups of any size but we after years of experience we have found a maximum of twelve people to be the optimum size for a successful trip. However, if you’d like to book this trip for a larger group then that can be arranged too.
