Great view of Lion’s Rock - Adventurous walk partly via stairs and partly via rock climbing. Very nice and within 30 minutes we were upstairs. Last piece the children (9 and 5 years) needed some extra help, but that is quickly found with other tourists or locals. 360 degree views are spectacular and excellent for taking beautiful pictures of the Lion’s Rock. It is recommended to go early before sunrise or late afternoon before sunset. Entrance 1,000 rupees (+/- 3.25 euros) per adult, children free. Highly recommended to do.

Beautiful view - Nice ascent of the 2nd rock or mountain in Sigiriya. As mentioned earlier, this rock fits much better in the budget than the more than 10 times more expensive adjacent Lion's Rock. With the tuktuk you are quite quickly at the entrance which is via the temple. Then you walk up in half an hour. First and canniest part via the uneven stairs, monkeys and other animals. Then the reclining Buddha and a little bit of clambering to get on top. Good to do and on top of the rock the view is amazing. Entry through the temple is 1,000 LKR Climb up for about 30 minutes. Upstairs you are an hour to watch, take pictures and watch people.

Spectacular view - The Pidurangala rock is spectacular. You have to invest some energy to get up there but it is definetly worth it. Try to catch the sunset or sunrise. The last part is very tricky. You have to be very careful when you come down to not miss a step. It could be dangerous

Superb walk with incredible view - The Piduralanga offers a magnificent view of Lion Rock The ascent is not very easy on the last part and there are a lot of people at the top at sunset but the view is incredible! Access is payable for a small fee

Marvelous - Really tiring especially because rather than a road there is a path with randomly placed stones The last stretch is also dangerous because you have to climb But when you get to the top you forget everything Wonderful show Sigiriya at sunset gives you chills Worth a trip

Wonderful! - Just wonderful! We decided to go up Rock early in the morning to admire the sunrise and the effort mixed with the heat was ABSOLUTELY worth it. I don't understand those who say to do this climb and avoid Lion Rock: trust me, do both (I did Sunrise here and Sunset on Lion Rock). The climb is more difficult than the Sigirya rock because it is a path and often, especially in the final part you will have to climb a rock: complicated but absolutely doable. The 360 degree view is breathtaking. If you come to Sri Lanka Pidurangola and Lion Rock are a must do.

Great sunrise! - Super great view. You should definitely be good on foot and it is recommended to start walking in the morning around 05:15 am to see the great sunrise and escape the heat. The last part is certainly not easy but with a pair of good sneakers and reasonably ok fitness more than good to master. In my opinion no more strenuous than any other rock (e.g. Sigiria Rock or Little Adams Peak). I would climb it again and again.

A must visit place once you are in Sigiriya - The hike to the top of Pidurangala is a bit difficult. The hike to Pidurangala takes around 30-60 minutes, depending on your fitness levels. The hike starts at Pidurangala Sigiri Rajamaha Viharaya, a temple at the base of the rock. And than endless stairs start and than some off-roading through the jungle with no clear demarcated route. However, after all the struggle once u reach at the top of Pidurangala, you get the best views of Sigiriya Rock. The Sunset here is majestic.

You're not alone! - We had read about how nice it was to climb this cliff and see Lion Rock outside of many other tourists and we went up there to see the view at sunset There were a lot of other tourists who also thought... There was a lot of crowded at the end and the ascent therefore took a total of 1 hour instead of 25 minutes. And then the sun was hidden behind clouds 😅 But the view was amazing!
