My travel craving is for sunshine, preferably on the beach. My earliest travel memory is meeting Micky Mouse at Disneyland.
I would spend my perfect day on the north shore of Kauai because it is the closest thing to heaven on Earth. I would stay in a beach cottage on Hanalei Bay when visiting Kauai. My most memorable moment here was running into a pod of more than a hundred dolphins spinning with kayakers along the Napali Coast. The most romantic thing you can do here is watch the sunset with a cocktail from the balcony of the St. Regis with a view of Bali Hai.
1. Hike the Napali Coast. Try to make it to the waterfall about 4 miles in.
2. Watch the surf at Secret Beach.
3. Snorkel at Tunnels Beach.
1. Bar Acuda—the tapas are amazing.
2. Mermaids Cafe—get the seared ahi wrap (on your way from the airport to the North Shore).
3. Pat's Taqueria—this taco truck on Hanalei Bay may be the best meal on the island.
1. The Napali Coast from the trail or the sea.
2. Hike the red canyons of Kokee.
3. A helicopter flight to the nearby island of Niihau.
1. Kong Lung Trading—my favorite gift shop in the world.
2. Hamura's Saimin near the airport. Locals love it and you will too.
3. Ono-Char Burger. Splurge on a burger and a milkshake.
