Highlights

2251 Poipu Rd - The first portion of your lesson is spent on land learning the basics of paddling, getting up and surfing a wave. The rest of the time is in the water with your professional, fun instructor sharing tips and information on how to actually surf! A safety briefing and all gear needed is provided. Minimum age for group lessons is 8 years and maximum weight is 225 lbs.

Poipu Road

Turn into the Ko'a Kea Resort entrance off of Po'ipu Rd. Follow the Ko'a Kea signs on your right all the way into the Valet area at the Ko'a Kea Resort (Red Salt Restaurant). Tell them you are there for a surf lesson. We are located poolside next to the Pool Bar at our Hoku Water Sports kiosk.

Excellent lesson from David! - David was an excellent instructor. He showed us the techniques we needed on land and then helped us modify with helpful advice in the water after each attempt. My son and I enjoyed the lesson and were happy we booked this.

Surfs up - Kele was our surf instructor and he was fantastic! He made sure we understood the assignment. We even got to ride a wave, without prior surfing knowledge!

Great time! - My kids enjoyed this experience. The location is great and easy to find. David was their instructor and he was helpful and patient. Not everyone got up on their boards but it was a good experience anyway. Maybe the three hour hike the morning of was a bad idea.

great coach - Our surf instructor was awesome! So good with our young adults. He had them up and surfing within 30 mins. The booth for Hoku is tucked outside the hotel near the pool.

New surfers - Great fun with my granddaughters. Instructor was very helpful and encouraging. We ranged in ages of 12 to 75. Waves were not as calm as in the promotional pictures so it was harder to paddle out and get up on the board. My granddaughters all got up on their boards. Fun experience.

Mahalo David! - My instructor David have invaluable tips and instructions on how to surf, I was out on the water in no time. He really helped finding the perfect wave and gave lots of encouraging praise that gave me the confidence to keep trying even when I'd wipe out a few times. The time spent in the water was wonderful, and made me certain I'd want to come back here again someday. Thank you again, David! I hope you have lots of amazing students that love the ocean and have the courage to keep trying!

Staff was great, would prefer location with sandy bottom.... - Beach is shallow and bottom is rocky. If you fall from board you may risk an injury. Do not recommend for kids doing this first time (until they learn how to fall).
