Charyn Canyon is one of the most remarkable natural wonders. Shaped over thousands of years by erosion on sedimentary rocks, its terrain has formed into isolated cliffs, columns, and towers. This natural monument is approximately 12 million years old.
A particularly attractive spot for tourists is the Valley of Castles, located deep within the canyon. This area is home to a rare ash grove that survived the Ice Age, making it unique, as the only other similar grove exists in North America. The canyon’s diverse landscape supports a rich variety of flora and fauna. While Charyn Canyon bears a resemblance to the Grand Canyon in North America, it is smaller in scale. However, the unique beauty of the “Valley of Castles” makes it truly one of a kind.
