- Eagle Square - Standing at 12 meters high (39.3 feet), this commanding statue is inspired by Langkawi’s namesake sea eagle. Poised to take flight, the statue is the focal point of the waterfront Dataran Lang, a star-shaped plaza located on Kuah Bay. It’s one of the first sights to greet visitors arriving via ferry or cruise ship.
Dataran Lang is popular for photos with the larger-than-life Brahminy kite, or to simply watch boats sail in and out of the bay. Opposite the square, across a small footbridge, is the Jetty Point Complex, Langkawi’s main ferry terminal and a mid-sized mall with duty-free shopping opportunities and fast food chains.
- Durian Perangin Waterfall - If you are adventurous enough to hike slightly higher towards the peak, you will see a well-maintained park. Staying on the path, you will come across several shelters where you can stop to catch your breath while enjoying the view and the soothing sounds of the cascading waters. Continuing your journey, you will encounter the many tiers of the waterfall, at which you can take a dip if you want. Note that caution must always be exercised as the rocks in the water can be slippery as well as sharp, so thread and splash around carefully.
- Tanjung Rhu Beach - Situated gracefully on the enchanting northeastern corner of Langkawi, Pantai Tanjung Rhu draws its name from the majestic casuarina trees that elegantly adorn its shoreline. Derived from the Malay language, ‘Pantai’ translates to the beach, ‘Tanjung’ signifies a cape, and ‘Rhu’ symbolizes the magnificent Casuarina tree.
This picturesque destination offers a harmonious blend of natural beauty and cultural significance, inviting visitors to immerse themselves in the tranquil ambience while basking in the breathtaking views and rich heritage that Pantai Tanjung Rhu has to offer.
- Panorama Langkawi SkyCab - Hovering over jungle and climbing over 550 million years old rock, SkyCab gives you more than one unique experience. Be informed, SkyCab is located at the oldest part of South East Asia and the first to emerge from the ancient sea and estuary! That’s something to give a goose bump if you can get the gist. Come and experience it yourself.
The Base Station is conveniently located at the foothill of the Machincang mountain. From here, visitors will be taken up to the cool Machincang mountain via the cable car system. The ride will be an exhilarating experience for everyone to enjoy. You will also be able to catch a glimpse of the flora and fauna that surrounds the area.
- Langkawi Sky Bridge - Measuring at 125m in length, the structure ranks among the world’s longest curve suspension bridge and constructing it was not an easy feat as the solutions had to factor the following critical elements; structural balancing from a single point (top of the pylon), optimal weight management and load distribution, pre-fabrication of bridge and on site installation.
The entire bridge, in all its elements had to be lifted to the top of the mountain by helicopter and was later assembled to its current position. Price for SkyBridge is RM6.00 for adult and RM4.00 for children. Currently, ticket can be purchased at SkyBridge Ticketing Counter at Top Station.
