- Eagle Square - Langkawi, often referred to as Kedah’s jewel, derives its name from the red-backed sea eagle that soars above the island. According to legend, the word ‘Lang’ comes from the Malay word ‘helang’, meaning Eagle, while ‘Kawi’ is derived from a term that signifies marble or reddish brown. The sight of reddish-brown eagles flying high in the sky contributes to the legend and emblem of Langkawi. In Malay, ‘Dataran’ translates to square, leading to the English name ‘Dataran Lang’ or Eagle Square.
- Maha Tower - Maha Tower Langkawi is an architectural wonder standing at 138 meters tall, serving as a beacon in Langkawi City’s masterplan as the island’s premier hub for business, leisure, and entertainment. This towering structure lights up the city with its unique attractions and waterfront experiences, celebrating Langkawi’s rich cultural heritage and establishing itself as the island’s vibrant new heartbeat.
- Durian Perangin Waterfall - Located in the northeastern part of Langkawi, Durian Perangin waterfall does not have the smell or taste of Durian. The name comes from the tall durian trees growing in the forests near the waterfall. Durian Perangin is a multi-tiered waterfall, with each cascade forming a freshwater pool at its base. It is inclined towards the northern side of Gunung Raya, Langkawi’s highest mountain peak. The waterfall is surrounded by fascinating rock formations and dense forest. - Langkawi Skybridge Cable Car - Also known as Langkawi Cable Car, Langkawi SkyCab is a 2,150-meter-long cable car ride that offers a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
This 15-minute ride is filled with adventure, allowing you to enjoy breathtaking views of the Machinchang mountain range. As the ride glides over the lush green rainforest, you also get a glimpse of 550-million-year-old rock formations.
- Langkawi Sky Bridge - Measuring 125 meters in length, this structure ranks among the world’s longest curved suspension bridges. Constructing it was a challenging task, as solutions had to consider critical elements such as structural balancing from a single point (top of the pylon), optimal weight management and load distribution, pre-fabrication of the bridge, and on-site installation.
The entire bridge, in all its components, had to be lifted to the top of the mountain by helicopter and was later assembled in its current position. The price for SkyBridge is RM6.00 for adults and RM4.00 for children. Tickets can currently be purchased at the SkyBridge Ticketing Counter at Top Station.
