- Langkawi - Langkawi, known as the jewel of Kedah, is a stunning archipelago of 99 tropical islands surrounded by clear blue waters. It’s one of the world’s top travel destinations for good reason. The island is abundant in natural beauty and cultural heritage, featuring well-preserved historical sites and numerous attractions that will make you wish you had more time to explore.
Prepare to be transported back in time as you delve into Langkawi’s rich folklore and captivating legends.
- Mahsuri’s Tomb - Starting with a hotel or port pickup at 9.00am, we will visit the legendary Mahsuri’s tomb, the site where Mahsuri met her end. The legend of Mahsuri is said to explain Langkawi’s recent prosperity, and the island appears to have overcome the curse, judging by its growing success.
Description
Mahsuri Tomb-Makam Mahsuri is a site dedicated to the legendary Princess Mahsuri, located in Kampung Mawat, 12km from Kuah. It is also known as Makam Mahsuri. Many natural attractions on the island are steeped in tales, and the legend of Mahsuri is perhaps the most famous.
- Atma Alam Batik Village - (Please note this attraction is closed every Tuesday) Your first stop will be Atma Alam, where you can observe the intricate process of traditional batik printing. Watch as art and culture come to life through wax and dyes, and take the opportunity to purchase some hand-drawn silk and local cloth handicrafts as souvenirs.
- Beras Terbakar (Field Of Burnt Rice) - The “Field of Burnt Rice” (Ladang Beras Terbakar) in Langkawi, Malaysia, holds historical significance dating back to the late 18th century. According to legend, during a Siamese invasion in 1821, the locals of Langkawi, led by a woman named Mahsuri, sought refuge in this rice field. To prevent the invaders from harvesting the crops, they set fire to the rice fields, leaving nothing behind for the enemy.
- Telaga Tujuh Waterfalls - Named after seven natural pools connected by a flowing river, Seven Wells Waterfall is one of Langkawi’s most mesmerizing natural attractions. Located within the Machinchang Cambrian Geoforest Park, the falls are divided into two sections: the upper pools and the lower pools, separated by a dramatic vertical waterfall cascading down a 91-meter-high cliff.
Cooling off in a refreshing natural pool is the reward for hiking through the humid rainforest to reach this serene waterfall, surrounded by leafy trees and playful monkeys.
First, you’ll encounter the lower pools, accessible after climbing around 200 steps. These are the most popular due to their easy access, view of the vertical waterfall, and large plunge pool at the bottom of a slippery rockface. Dedicated hikers can continue the climb, totaling 638 steps, to reach the upper pools, where you’ll find the seven pools of various depths, shapes, and sizes that give the falls their name.
- Laman Padi Langkawi - Laman Padi is a living museum and eco-tourism attraction centered around the rice ecosystem. Spanning 13.86 acres, the natural setting offers a rustic view of the serene green paddy fields within the compound.
The rice heritage is invaluable, with a history and traditions dating back hundreds of years. Visitors can appreciate this by exploring the exhibition at the gallery, which showcases traditional paddy farming practices and artifacts in a real paddy field environment.
- Pantai Cenang - Next, we will head to Cenang Street. Along Cenang Street, you can stroll by the beach, do some duty-free shopping, and visit Underwater World, one of the largest marine and freshwater aquariums in Southeast Asia.
