Speed boat ‘Fawlty Towers’ - Not actually sure how I feel about my experience on this tour. Was totally confusing. Gave it a 2 due to beauty of place although it’s sad the employees give little regard to the natural environment. The mangroves and the eagles were stunning as were the beautiful karsts but that was it. After getting on a mini bus and then driving around Pentai Cenang picking up other guests for 45 minutes, we were moved to a big bus which was to capacity, 53 in total. I passed the same hotels 3 times. Perhaps they need to have a central pick up. When we arrived at the Kilim Park, it was each man for himself with zero communication from the tour company as what was going on. Tour guide actually spoke to us after a good hour and explicitly told us they were sacrificing our second day of our holiday for you as it was the day after Eid. Thought that’s what tourism was about, working public holidays but maybe that’s just my understanding. After all, they didn’t need to accept our booking. There was 1 English speaking guide for 71 people across 3 boats. The bat cave required an entry fee and every Tom, Dick and Harry arrived at the same time. Was bedlam. All you could smell were the tour drivers smoking and an immense smell of petrol. Hardly environmentally friendly, let alone the guides throwing their cigarette butts into the water. Gunshots were heard in the distance which did not instill any confidence in our attendance on the tour. It was at this point I wished I could leave. The crocodile cave was a complete let down, and it was pretty much linner at this stage, Lunch and dinner’ as we ate at 2.50pm. Why they take every boat to the same beach is strange. Not pleasant swimming amongst boat run off so gave this part a miss. Overall, for a tour that was meant to be 4 hours long, we arrived back at 4.30pm after leaving at 9am. Give this company a miss. It was seriously ‘Fawlty Towers’.
