Kleifarvatn Lake - Kleifarvatn, the largest lake on the Reykjanes peninsula, is also one of Iceland’s deepest lakes at nearly 100 meters. The water comes from the porous lava ground and is home to many fish, making it a favorite among anglers. The lake reflects Iceland’s beauty with its lava ground covered in ancient moss.

Borgarfjörður Fjord and Its Waterfalls

Reykholt - Start your day with a cultural stop at Reykholt near Borgarfjörður. This historical site from medieval times is home to Icelandic Sagas.

Deildartunguhver - Visit Deildartunguhver, Europe’s largest hot spring located in Reykjadalur, the “valley of smoke.” From a safe distance, observe massive bubbles in the 97°C water and feel the heat on your face.

Budakirkja - Continue exploring the south coast of the Snæfellsnes peninsula with a stop at Búdir church, one of Iceland’s three black churches, a favorite among photographers. Nearby, you might spot seals in the sea.

Arnarstapi - Arnarstapi is worth a visit for its natural beauty. The beach features an arch carved by erosion, known as Gatklettur, or “hole in the cliff.”

Vatnshellir Cave - At 3 PM, explore an 8,000-year-old lava tube located 32 meters underground. This fascinating formation includes an anti-chamber accessible by spiral stairs. Equipped with a helmet and headlight, descend deep beneath the surface.

Kirkjufellsfoss - Visit Kirkjufellsfoss, one of Iceland’s most photographed waterfalls, along with the famous Kirkjufell mountain, which formed 5 to 10 million years ago and has a unique, multi-layered tip.

The Battle of Iceland

Lighthouse Sugandisey - Start your day early (around 7:00 AM) with a visit to Stykkishólmur, a charming fishing village known for its fresh fish dishes. Visit Sugandisey island and its lighthouse for spectacular views before moving on.

If interested, visit the Icelandic Seal Center (Selasetur Íslands) to see exhibitions, learn about seal biology, and track seals live by GPS. Note that this is a recommendation and the admission fee is not included in the tour price. This visit will take about 1 hour and 45 minutes, including driving time from Sugandisey Lighthouse.

1238 The Battle of Iceland - Experience Iceland’s history differently at 3:00 PM with a visit to The Battle of Iceland museum, where exhibitions come to life through virtual reality.

Grafarkirkja - Grafarkirkja is Iceland’s oldest turf church, surrounded by a magical atmosphere. Note that entrance to the church is not possible.

If interested, visit the Hofsós swimming pool, one of Iceland’s most popular and photographed sites. Enjoy swimming and relaxing with a great view of the fjord. Note that this is a recommendation and the admission fee is not included in the tour price. This visit will take about 2 hours and 10 minutes, including driving time from Grafarkirkja.

Akureyri and The Beer SPA

Dalvik - Start your day in Dalvík, a village on the Tröllaskagi peninsula, ideal for whale watching. Visit the local grocery store for supplies before continuing your journey.

If interested, visit Hrísey Island, Iceland’s second-largest island, known for bird watching. Drive to Árskógssandur to take the ferry. Note that this is a recommendation and the admission fee is not included in the tour price. This visit will take about 3 hours, including driving time from Dalvík and the ferry tour.

Akureyri - End your day in Akureyri, the capital of the north. Visit the lovely church, botanical garden, and swimming pool. A 10-minute drive from the center takes you to the charming Christmas house, open year-round.

Akureyri and Lake Mývatn

Godafoss - On your way to Lake Mývatn, visit Godafoss waterfall, or the “waterfall of the gods.” Legend has it that in the year 1,000, Þorgeir threw statues of the Norse gods into the waterfall after making Christianity official in Iceland.

Dimmuborgir Lava Formations - Visit Dimmuborgir, a large lava field with caves and arches formed during a powerful eruption 2,300 years ago. Take time to explore the park dedicated to these formations.

Skútustaðagígar - Next, visit Skútustadagígar pseudo craters, perfect for walking and bird watching.

Myvatn Nature Baths (Jardbodin vid Myvatn) - End your day in the warm waters of Mývatn’s Nature Baths at 7:00 PM. Enjoy the sauna, steam room, warm waterfall, and panoramic lake views from the open-air bath.

Húsavik & Akureyri - Diamond Circle

Gentle Giants – Húsavík Whale Watching - Húsavik is the place for a Whale Watching Tour! Embark on a three-hour sea adventure at 9:45 AM to see whales and possibly dolphins.

Ásbyrgi - Ásbyrgi is a unique shoe-shaped canyon formed 8,000 to 10,000 years ago after glacial flooding. Today, it is a beautiful woodland area with a small lake and many walking paths.

Vök Baths and Egilsstaðir

Rjukandi Waterfall - Visit Rjúkandi waterfall, just outside of Egilsstadir. The landscape until Mývatn is lunar-like, with surprising sites along the way!

East Coast and Seydisfjordur Fjord

Studlagil Canyon - Studlagil Canyon is a must-see on the East coast, featuring stunning basalt rock columns and a blue water river. Admire the canyon from the viewing platform or go down to the gorge.

Seydisfjordur - Seydisfjördur is considered the most beautiful east fjord in the country. Nestled between Mt. Bjólfur and Strandartindur, the village of 700 inhabitants is known for its colorful houses and Rainbow Road. Seydisfjördur also hosts the annual Lunga Arts festival in mid-July.

Eastern Iceland

Diamond Beach and Vatnajokull Glacier Hike

Diamond Beach - Experience the otherworldly beauty of Diamond Beach, a black beach where thousands of ice blocks from the glacier glitter like diamonds in the sunlight.

Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon Boat Tours and Cafe - At 10:30 AM, take an amphibian boat tour through the stunning icebergs of Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon. During this 35-minute trip, taste 1,000-year-old ice and learn about the lagoon from an English-speaking guide. Don’t forget your camera for a chance to capture seals against the picturesque glacier backdrop.

Tröll Expeditions Skaftafell - At 2:00 PM, embark on a hiking adventure on the Skaftafell glacier, walking on the Falljökull outlet, part of the Vatnajökull glacier.

Skaftafell National Park - Visit Skaftafell National Park with its many walking paths. One path leads to the beautiful Svartifoss waterfall, known for its dark basalt column formation. Note that park admission is free, but there is a parking fee not included in the tour price.

South Coast and Black Beach

Systrafoss - Start your day by visiting Systrafoss waterfall in Kirkjubæjarklaustur, a chute from lake Systravatn. A short hike to the top offers spectacular views of the area. You might also visit the nearby Stjórnarfoss waterfall.

Vik - Vík in Mýrdal is a charming village on the south coast, nestled between the Mýrdasjokull glacier, the Jokulsá and Blautavísl rivers, and a long stretch of black beach.

Reynisfjara Beach - Visit Reynisfjara beach and its renowned cliff Reynisfjall. The basalt columns of the cliff wall create a unique atmosphere. Sit on the columns and gaze at the three basalt rock formations in the Atlantic Sea, rumored to be trolls caught by daylight.

Dyrholaey - Dyrhólaey, or Doorhill Island, is a 120-meter rock formation with a hole in the middle where ships used to sail through. Today, it is a popular site and home to many bird species.

Lava Show - At 1:30 PM, attend the Icelandic Lava Show to safely witness real hot lava flowing from a mimic volcanic eruption.

If interested in history, visit the Skógar Museum to see a collection of 15,000 artifacts exhibited in three museums and six buildings. Note that this is a recommendation and the admission fee is not included in the tour price. This visit will take about 1 hour and 30 minutes, including driving time from the Icelandic Lava Show.

Horse Riding and Reykjadalur Hot River

Skogafoss - Visit the impressive Skógafoss waterfall, fed by melting waters from Eyjafjallajokull and Myrdalsjokull glaciers. The robust chute provides a unique experience with loud sounds, water spray, and rainbows.

Seljalandsfoss - See Seljalandsfoss, a 60-meter high waterfall behind which you can walk. It is a picturesque site, widely photographed and featured. Note that entrance is free, but there is a parking fee not included in the tour price.

Gljufrabui Waterfalls - Gljufrabui Waterfall is a 40-meter high waterfall hidden by rock formations. Wear waterproof shoes and a jacket!

Hótel Eldhestar - Make new friends with Icelandic horses at Eldhestar. The “TOUR 2A - The Heritage Tour” at 2:00 PM is perfect for all riders to get acquainted with these beautiful creatures in the countryside.

Golden Circle and Secret Lagoon

Thingvellir National Park - Start the Golden Circle route with a visit to Þingvellir National Park. Þingvellir is a geological marvel and an important historical and political site, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Note that entrance is free, but there is a parking fee not included in the tour price.

Gullfoss Waterfall - Gullfoss waterfall is an impressive 32-meter high chute that falls into a deep crevasse, often creating rainbows in the water spray.

Geysir - Visit Geysir, where the Strokkur geyser shoots water up to 15 meters in the air. The geothermal area also features fumaroles, mud pots, and boiling water openings.

If interested, visit the Fridheimar Restaurant and Farm, known for horse breeding, horse shows, and a tomato farm run with geothermal energy. Secret Lagoon - Gamla Laugin - Experience a geothermal bath at the Secret Lagoon at 4:00 PM. Built in 1891 near the Litli Geysir, the lagoon offers warm waters and spouting activities every few minutes.

Kerid Crater - Visit Kerið volcanic crater, approximately 3,000 years old and covered with vivid colors in the summer. The crater is also beautiful in winter when its inner lake catches the sunlight. Note that there is a small admission fee to visit the crater, not included in the tour price.

Departure Day

Sun Voyager - Depending on your flight time, visit the capital further and see the Sun Voyager, a sculpture by the sea representing freedom and hope, with majestic mountains in the background.

Harpa Reykjavik Concert Hall and Conference Centre - Visit Harpa, the music and conference hall inspired by Icelandic nature. Note that admission is free, but there is a parking fee not included in the tour price.

Hallgrimskirkja - Hallgrimskirkja church is located near downtown Reykjavik and the famous Rainbow Street. For a 360° panoramic view of the city, visit the top of the church. Note that entrance is free, but there is a small fee to access the tower, not included in the tour price.

Perlan - If time permits, visit Perlan, a museum on top of four water reservoir tanks. Participate in the Aurora Show to learn about the northern lights.
