Post a stimulating morning improv-hike through the Kemeri bogs, you will tour the fantastic Kanieris Lake and step onto one of its bird observation towers. This massive shallow lake was once a lagoon of the ancient Littorina Sea and is situated near the Gulf Of Riga. A vital pit stop for migratory birds, the Kanieris Lake and its surrounding nature tracks, or ‘habitats’, are teaming with unique, protected ecosystems and are an ideal location for wildlife sighting.

Next, you’ll get to explore the distinctive damp forests of Ķemeri National Park and discover their natural treasures including the well-known Sulphur springs.

Before returning to Riga, you will take in the refreshing breeze of the impressive sandy beach and the coastal pine woods of the Gulf of Riga.

A beautiful day at Kemeri National Park - Was picked from my accommodation by my amazing guide Rolands who is a very nice guy and astonishingly knowledgeable as regards the ecosystem there. We walked through a part of the bog. The trail is not particularly hard as the wooden planks are well maintained. Halfway I was treated with local snacks and drinks. Then we proceeded to the Baltic coast where we had a very nice walk along the seaside.

A Trip Full of Great and Unexpected Surprises - What a completely brilliant day, from start to finish, we had with Roland exploring Kemeri National Park. Right from the outset Roland was brilliantly informative and knowledgable. We were picked up from our hotel in Riga which made for a nice and easy start to the day. On journey to the first site, The Bog, Roland was wonderfully enthusiastic and insightful about Latvian nature and culture. The Bog was awesome. What a great experience to be able to walk across part of the bog via the boardwalks and to hear about the formation of the bog, the conservation and the plant species throughout the seasons. Hearing the noisy cranes in the background was an added bonus (hope we see them next time). We then headed on to the Lagoon. What a treat to hear the booming Bitterns as we explored the lagoon and heard about the bird life and conservation. The floating walkway over the lagoon was great fun. My favourite lunch of our visit to Latvia was on this trip, where Roland shared traditional Latvian picnic food. I am pleased to have ticked the cottage cheese sweet off my to try list. It was strange but good. We then headed to the Gulf of Riga. What an amazing surprise. I had not imagined such a beautiful coastline with pristine white sands, a calm blue sea and the backdrop of a mossy pine forest. Pure magic. I am so glad that we took this trip and got to see a small part of Latvia’s countryside. It has given us to the taste to want to return and explore more. What really made this trip special was the wonderful knowledge of Roland, his great enthusiasm for Latvia’s nature and culture and his easy going and very good humoured approach. Latvia is truly a hidden gem with so much more to explore than Riga. Thank you Roland for a fab introduction to your beautiful country. We will be back!

Don't miss this tour if you plan to visit Latvia! - This year my parents and I took a nine-tour of the three Baltic countries and our private tour with Rolands from i-Da Adventures was the highlight of our trip! We toured the beautiful wetlands of Kemeri National Park and walked along the pristine Gulf of Riga in Jūrmala. Rolands is a trained biologist and conservationist and his detailed descriptions of this fragile ecosystem enriched our experience. Before our last stop on the tour, we were treated to a picnic with hand-picked local Latvian ingredients (and a dark beer for my Dad ;-) After the tour, Rolands sent us 50+ beautiful photos that he took us. Don't miss this tour if you plan to be in Latvia!

Great Day in Nature near Riga! - Roland was fantastic. He is energetic, enthusiastic, funny, and smart. He can tell you the science regarding the different ecosystems we explored, and can also tell you personal stories and folklore. He loves doing what he is doing and he clearly loves the Latvian outdoors. We had a spectacular day, swam in the Baltic, and ate local Latvian treats. Getting local knowledge like this is the best part of travel for us. The day just flew by. This was easily the highlight of our trip.

Wonderful person - We met Ronald this morning for our day trip to Kemeri national park sharp on time. Wonderful person always full of enthusiasm and pleasant and extremely knowledgeable not only in his field, but overall knowledge. Most enjoyable part for myself and my wife was lovely authentic food we all had. He took care of the food detail making sure it is fresh. If you are lucky to go out with him, i guarantee that you will not regret it. The tour was wonderful not only for his knowledge but of his personality also. Good luck Ronald and I would like to mention that your chicken was excellent with rye bread.

Fantastic Guide, Rolands: - a True Professional - Rolands is an excellent, knowledgeable and entertaining guide. We learned a lot, visiting the highlights of Ķemeri National Park: the bog boardwalk, black alder swamp forest, Kaņieris lake (fens) and then the long, sweeping beach at Slow Mile, fringed with rare pine-wooded dune habitat. Rolands provided an excelkent lunch of local Latvian snacks: black bread, cream-cheese, kvass and smoked chicken.

Highlight of our time in Latvia - If you are a nature lover, Best of Kemeri National Park in One Day is a MUST for your visit to Latvia. Within one national park, we saw four uniquely beautiful ecosystems, including bog, fen, and coast. Rollands was the consummate guide--he was funny, knowledgeable, and served up one heck of a lunch spread! My husband and I both agreed that this was a highlight of our trip to Riga. Strongly recommend.

Stay safe! - Vwry nice place to have a walk, but the view do not change, so do not worth walking longer distance, also one minus because of bad smell from the toilets, if they take money for parking (do not forget to have cash!g they should also look around the track. Walking area is a bit broken, so you also spend lots of time while looking down to stay safe. Do not offer to go with little kids and strollers
