Indulge in Lapland’s snowy landscape while mastering the art of constructing a snow igloo. A distinct and enjoyable experience for the entire family!
- Scandic Kemi - The traditional igloos in Lapland are constructed from snow. Initially, you gather a substantial amount of pliable snow. Subsequently, you dig out to form an attractive snow igloo. The walls should have a thickness ranging from 30 to 40 centimeters. It’s also possible to craft windows, doors, and even sleeping areas. An enjoyable activity for the entire family to enjoy together!
Winter apparel, instructional services, round-trip transportation from your accommodation, and a light meal are all part of this distinctive adventure. A delightful barbeque meal is served in a tepee beside a warm fire!
The original igloos were erected by the Inuit people. They utilized snow as insulation for their dwellings because the air trapped within the snow serves as an effective insulator. Historically, igloos were employed as temporary hunting shelters during the winter months, but today they are primarily used for leisure purposes.
