Nairobi to Maasai Mara

Nairobi to Maasai Mara
Rift Valley Province - Guests will be picked up between 7:00 and 7:30 am from their hotel in Nairobi city center, or by 8:30 am from their hotel in Westlands. The journey to Masai Mara begins via the Great Rift Valley viewpoint, offering a stunning view of the Rift Valley floor. Visitors will see the semi-active Mt. Longonot and two dormant volcanic mountains, Mt. Suswa and Mt. Margaret, for 10 to 15 minutes.
Masai Mara National Reserve - The drive continues to Masai Mara, arriving in time for lunch. After checking in at the camp or lodge and resting, guests will depart at 4:00 pm for a two-hour sunset game drive in the Mara Reserve until 6:00 pm. Return to the camp for a delicious buffet dinner and enjoy a restful night at the camp or lodge. Dinner and overnight stay at Mara Chui.
Full Day Maasai Mara
Maasai Mara National Reserve - An early breakfast at 6:30 am is followed by a full day of game viewing in search of the Big Five. The tour includes a visit to the famous Mara River, where the great migration occurs. This annual wildebeest migration involves over 1.5 million animals arriving in July and departing in November, followed by savanna predators like lions, cheetahs, jackals, hyenas, and vultures. The spectacular wildebeest migration, a seventh wonder of the world, is only seen in Maasai Mara. Visitors will see resident crocodiles and hippos at the Mara River banks, guided by rangers. A picnic lunch is provided under a tree in the park, overlooking the vast landscapes. The game drive continues, exploring the beauty of the Mara Reserve until evening.
Mara River - This is the site of the great wildebeest migration, where one million wildebeest move between the Serengeti and Maasai Mara.
Maasai Mara to Lake Nakuru
Lake Nakuru - After breakfast at the camp or lodge, guests will check out by 8:00 am and drive to Nakuru. An optional visit to a Masai Village in Maasai Mara is available in the morning before departure, costing USD 20 per person (paid in cash at the village). This visit offers insight into the local tribe’s lifestyle and culture. Lunch will be provided at a traveler’s motel. Upon arrival in Nakuru, guests will check in at their hotel and rest. No game drive is scheduled for this day, allowing time to relax, swim in the pool, or walk around the hotel.
Lake Nakuru to Lake Naivasha
Lake Nakuru National Park - After an early breakfast, guests will check out and depart by 7:00 am for a game drive at Lake Nakuru National Park. This small park is home to magnificent, rare white rhinos, part of the Big Five. There is also a chance to see pink flamingos. The game drive lasts 3 to 4 hours, with game viewing on the way out. The ecosystem includes the lake, surrounded by wooded and bushy grasslands, supporting a wide ecological diversity, including flamingos and the Black and White Rhinoceros, the area’s major attractions. Lunch will be at a traveler’s motel in Naivasha.
Lake Naivasha - After lunch, guests will head to Lake Naivasha for a one-hour boat ride, enjoying bird watching, eagle feeding, and viewing pelicans and hippos. After the boat ride, return to the dock. Guests can opt to visit Crescent Island for an additional USD 35 per person or enjoy two hours of horse riding at Sanctuary Farm for an extra USD 70 per person. Dinner and overnight stay at Chambai Safari Hotel.
Naivasha to Amboseli
Hell’s Gate National Park - After an early breakfast, guests will check out by 7:00 am and proceed to Hell’s Gate National Park for a biking safari. A guided tour allows guests to see various animal species like zebras, buffalos, giraffes, and antelopes while biking. A guided walk in the gorge offers a chance to explore the park’s gorges and caves. After the tour, return the bikes at the gate. For those unable to bike, exploring the park on foot is an option. Hell’s Gate National Park, a remarkable part of the Great Rift Valley, features spectacular scenery, including towering cliffs, water-gouged gorges, stark rock towers, scrub-clad volcanoes, and geothermal steam plumes, making it one of Africa’s most atmospheric parks. Visitors can enjoy biking, rock climbing, and a natural spa.
Amboseli Ecosystem - Guests will drive to Naivasha Kifaru restaurant or Mai Mahiu hotel for lunch, then continue to Amboseli, arriving in the evening. After checking in at the lodge, guests can swim and relax. The game drive is scheduled for the next day. Dinner and overnight stay at AA Lodges Amboseli.
Full Day Amboseli National Park
Amboseli National Park - After breakfast, guests will spend a full day in the park with a packed lunch, searching for popular residents like well-known predators and their opponents, such as zebras, wildebeests, giraffes, and hippos, with a view of Mt. Kilimanjaro. If the tour finishes early, guests can return to the lodge to relax and swim. There is also an opportunity to visit a Maasai village to learn about the tribe and their culture. Later, return to AA Lodge Amboseli for dinner and an overnight stay.
Observation Hill - This hill offers a panoramic view of the entire Amboseli National Park. Visitors can marvel at hippos and elephants drinking water below. From the summit of Observation Hill, a pyramid-shaped volcanic hill, guests can watch elephants bathe in a swamp and admire the plains and swamps against the backdrop of Kilimanjaro. This observation point is one of the best places to see elephants and attracts many tourists, both local and international. In addition to large mammals gathering to drink, flocks of pink flamingos can also be seen. Bringing binoculars and a powerful lens is recommended for good pictures.
Amboseli to Nairobi
Amboseli Ecosystem - An early morning view of Mount Kilimanjaro is followed by breakfast and check-out, with a short game drive en route out of Amboseli, heading to Nairobi. The game drive is strictly from 6 to 8 am. Lunch will be served on the way at a traveler’s motel. Upon arrival, guests will be dropped off at their hotel or the airport. This marks the end of the tour.
