Nairobi to Aberdare National Park
Aberdare National Park - The journey begins with a morning pickup from either the airport or your hotel in Nairobi. We then head to Aberdare National Park, traveling through coffee and tea plantations to reach The Aberdares Country Club, situated on the slopes of Mweiga Hill. After lunch, we proceed to the Ark tree lodge, located in the forested mountain slopes of the Aberdares Mountains at an elevation of 7,000 feet. This exceptional lodge offers high-altitude game viewing, featuring rare animals such as the Giant forest hog, Bush pig, Tree Hyrax, large Spotted Genet, and the elusive Bongo Antelope.
Wildlife can be observed from various levels – outside where you can see, hear, and smell everything, and inside where you can stay warm and cozy with a cup of tea. You can request to be awakened during the night if your favorite animals appear. A herd of Elephants might be just feet away, and if you’re fortunate, a Leopard or large male Lion might make an appearance.
Aberdare to Samburu National Reserve
Samburu National Reserve - After breakfast, we depart Aberdare for Samburu National Reserve. This morning, we travel by road to Kenya’s northern frontier. Wild and rugged, Samburu is fiercely beautiful with its arid savannahs nourished by the lovely Uaso Nyiro River. It is also one of Kenya’s most protected areas and home to species found only north of the equator, such as the reticulated giraffe, Grevy’s zebras, and Beisa oryxes.
Overnight at Samburu Sopa Lodge or a similar accommodation.
Full Day Samburu National Park
Samburu National Reserve - As dawn breaks in golden bands, we start our day by scanning the river from our tent’s veranda with a steaming cup of coffee in hand. Before the dew evaporates from the grass, we set off in pursuit of the Elephants, Lions, Leopards, and Cheetahs that thrive in the reserve’s grasslands and acacia woodlands. The day is spent alternating between exploring the bush and relaxing in our cozy lodge. Dinner and overnight stay at Samburu Sopa Lodge or a similar accommodation.
Samburu to Nairobi
Nairobi - After breakfast, we depart our lodge and drive back to Nairobi, arriving in the city around lunchtime. Drop off at your Nairobi hotel or the airport for your flight back home.
