- Hell’s Gate National Park - Hell’s Gate is the only national park in Kenya where visitors can walk freely. It was named after a narrow break in the cliffs, once a tributary of a prehistoric lake that sustained early humans in the Rift Valley. It’s an ideal family getaway for day trips from Nairobi. The park is renowned for its natural hot geysers, rock climbing, vulture breeding grounds, and a unique spot to view the Fisher’s Towers, formerly a volcanic rock Obsidian, a striking black glassy rock formed from cooled molten lava, and geothermal power plants. Visitors can explore the gorges, see the hot springs, and the Hell Channel, which includes Hell’s Bedroom and Hell’s Kitchen. Cycling through the park offers a true adventure. Wildlife to observe includes buffaloes, Masai giraffes, zebras, and various antelopes.
- Lake Naivasha - After Hell’s Gate, it’s a great opportunity to visit the freshwater lake located next to the park for an optional lunch and boat ride at Lake Naivasha Crescent Camp, enjoying the pleasant lake breeze. Visitors can choose to go boat riding to get closer to hippos and numerous aquatic birds, including fish eagles. After this, it’s a good time to begin the journey back to Nairobi, arriving before sunset.
