Nairobi to Masai Mara National Reserve

Maasai Mara National Reserve - Our driver guide will pick you up from your Nairobi hotel between 7 AM and 8 AM. The morning drive will take you to the Maasai Mara Game Reserve, the northern extension of the Serengeti, renowned as one of Kenya’s premier game-viewing destinations. The reserve spans 700 square miles of breathtaking wilderness, embodying the quintessential African landscape with its endless acacia-dotted grasslands and misty hills. In the afternoon, enjoy a game drive to witness the sunset and hopefully spot large prides of lions, elephants, buffalos, zebras, and numerous other plains animals. All meals and overnight stay at Mara Jambo or a similar accommodation.

Masai Mara Full Day

Maasai Mara National Reserve - Spend the entire day game viewing and exploring this magnificent park. The Mara is steeped in African legend, with an abundance of lions, elephants, giraffes, various gazelle species, and zebras throughout the park. Cheetahs and leopards are also frequently seen, and rhinos are spotted less often. The annual wildebeest migration, one of nature’s last great wildlife spectacles, occurs in the Mara from July to September, attracting large numbers of big game and their predators. The reserve is also home to several species of Bee-Eater, the vibrant birds that top the list of the Mara’s avian residents. Besides wildlife, the Maasai Mara is inhabited by the colorful Maasai tribe, who can be seen around the park’s borders—Morans (warriors) traversing the plains, young boys herding goats, or elders gathered under a tree discussing daily matters. A visit to a Maasai boma (homestead) offers insight into their unique culture and customs.

Maasai Mara to Lake Nakuru National Park

Lake Nakuru National Park - After breakfast, depart Maasai Mara in the morning and drive through the Rift Valley to Lake Nakuru, a shallow alkaline lake famous for its stunning flamingo population, considered one of the world’s greatest birdwatching spectacles. While Lake Nakuru is primarily a bird sanctuary, it also hosts a significant number of large game animals, including zebras, elephants, and gazelles, providing one of the best opportunities to see rhinos. Lake Nakuru National Park was the first designated rhino reserve in Kenya and is one of the few places where Rothschild’s giraffes can be seen.

Nakuru to Nairobi

Nairobi - After an early breakfast, spend the morning in Nakuru Park, where you can observe numerous flamingos among other bird species (about 350 recorded). The park is also home to both black and white rhinoceroses and was established to protect endangered species like the rhino. Additionally, it is inhabited by colobus monkeys, leopards, giraffes, and various antelope species. After lunch, return to Nairobi with a drop-off at your Nairobi hotel or the airport.
