Full Day at Tsavo West
Tsavo National Park West - Spend the entire day exploring Tsavo West National Park, renowned for its breathtaking landscapes and diverse vegetation. The park is adjacent to significant wildlife reserves, home to Black and White Rhinos. It features open savannah grasslands interspersed with Acacia woodlands, scrublands, rocky ridges, and riverine vegetation. Located in the coastal province, it hosts all of Africa’s big game, including the Big Five: Lions, Elephants, Buffalo, Rhinos, and the elusive Leopards. Other notable wildlife includes Giraffes, Zebras, Hyenas, Cheetahs, Hippos, Crocodiles, Gerenuk, Lesser Kudu, Waterbucks, and Wildebeests. The park is also a haven for bird enthusiasts, with rare species such as the Corncrake, Basra Reed Warbler, and Secretary Bird.
Mzima Springs - Mzima Springs is a lush oasis within Tsavo West National Park, producing an impressive 250 million liters of fresh water daily. The springs, originating from the Chyulu Hills, supply most of Mombasa’s fresh water. A walking trail follows the shoreline, and despite a drought in 2009 affecting the hippo population, it remains stable at around 20 individuals. The area also hosts crocodiles and a wide variety of birds.
