The park is famously referred to as the “Land of Lava, Springs, Man-eaters, and Magical Sunsets.” Its renown stems from the man-eating lions that claimed the lives of hundreds during the construction of the railway line and highway in the colonial period. Tsavo West National Park ranks as the second largest national park in Kenya, spanning an area of 9,065 square kilometers. It is divided from Tsavo East National Park by the A109 highway, which links Nairobi to Mombasa. The park boasts over fifty million gallons of pristine water emerging from beneath the arid lava rock.
