To help us travel in time to pre-christian history, this tour includes a visit to the oak tree sanctuary which has a beautifully reconstructed “old God” trail and ending the tour with a cup of tea/coffee on an astonishing bluff overlooking river Neris.

This journey is akin to a voyage through the annals of time, taking us all the way back to the earliest known history of Lithuania. While we can only speculate about some of the history linked to this place, much has been elucidated using archeological reinventions, with the remaining allure being simply experienced – through stunning vistas seen from atop the hills surrounding the basin of the Neris river.
Kernave holds the distinction of being the first capital of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, as mentioned in historical chronicles dating from the latter half of the 18th century. The Kernave hill forts are one-of-a-kind in the whole of the Baltic Sea region due to their unique configuration - five of them co-existing in a single location.
Our journey back into the pre-Christian era would be facilitated by a trip to the oak tree sanctuary, featuring an impressively redeveloped “ancient God” track, capping off the tour with a round of tea/coffee at a magnificent cliff with a view of the River Neris.
If desired, this tour can be extended to a whole day tour for a more immersive exploration of history, art, and nature walks.
