Next, we head to Lyndoch, a 25-minute drive away.
- Chateau Yaldara - This will be a highlight of your day. A 30-minute drive brings us to Chateau Yaldara in Lyndoch, Barossa Valley. Here, you’ll find excellent red and white wines and a fantastic photo opportunity with some historical buildings. We’ll stop here for 30-45 minutes.
It’s only a 5-minute drive to our lunch stop from here.
-
Kies Family Wines - A quick 5-minute drive takes us to one of my favorites in the Barossa Valley, Kies Family Wines. You can have lunch here if you wish (at your own cost) or choose to include lunch when booking. There’s also time for wine tasting, with tasting fees included in your private tour cost. My favorites here are the Deer Stalker Merlot and The Dedication. Next, we head to Mengler’s Hill, about a 20-minute drive away.
-
Mengler’s Hill Lookout Sculpture Park - A 15-20 minute drive brings us to Mengler’s Hill Lookout, a fantastic spot for photos overlooking the Barossa Valley, Australia’s largest wine region. This stop is optional and can be excluded if you prefer.
-
Barossa Valley Chocolate Company - A short 10-minute drive from Mengler’s Hill takes us to the Barossa Valley Chocolate Factory. Indulge in delicious chocolates, coffee, and cake if you’re hungry. This visit is also optional and can be skipped if you want more time at the next winery, which is only 2 minutes away.
-
Chateau Dorrien - Just a 2-minute drive from the chocolate factory, we arrive at Chateau Dorrien. This iconic South Australian spot offers wine and honey mead tastings to conclude our wine tour. It’s also a great place for photos in and around the chateau. We’ll stop here for 30-40 minutes.
-
Maggie Beer’s Farm Shop - Another 2-minute drive brings us to Maggie Beer’s Farm Shop. Maggie, a well-known figure with her own cooking TV shows and involvement in many MasterChef shows worldwide, is famous for her food that complements the wines of the Barossa. Relax here for 30-40 minutes with a coffee, cake, or glass of wine (at your own cost). You can also stroll around the beautiful dam or fruit trees, or see the pheasants from around the world. Don’t miss the original kitchen with the ovens and backdrops used in the series “Cook & The Chef.” We then head home, with an estimated arrival time back in Adelaide City of 5:15-5:30 PM via the Sturt Way and the Northern Expressway, about a 50-minute drive.
