A Silly but Wildly Fun and Whimsical Adventure (also there's nature!) - I signed up my mom and me for this excursion as one of our port adventures when we docked in Ketchikan. She said that this was her favorite part of the entire trip. I loved it too, and for me, this excursion was second only to some ridiculously good whale watching we had in Juneau. That's how good this adventure was for us.
I wanted to go because I am a secret nerd about Bigfoot legends and folklore, and I wanted to hear the local stories of Alaska. We met up with our group leads, Marcus and Lexus Collins (I'm sorry if I spelled your names wrong, you two!), right as we got off the boat. We were a group of only 8 people, which we learned was intentional. We loaded up into a van and drove through Ketchikan, getting a history lesson of the town along the way. We drove to the entrance to a dirt road, got out, and walked to where our off-road vehicles were. That's where the adventure truly began.
I don't want to spoil any of the surprises, but there were a few of them! First, we walked on a private trail that this company had created specifically for this tour. After almost a week of being on a cruise ship, to have so much quiet nature around us was such a welcome change. I enjoyed that part of it immensely.
More than that, Lexus did a fantastic job of telling us about the plants and animals that we could see in the area. Every so often we would stop in a small shelter and sit to listen and learn about the Tongass forest around us. We even had delicious cookies, which was definitely one of many highlights. Lexus herself had personal and familial experience with lots of the plants that we saw, and we even got the chance to sample some of the forest's fruits (mostly berries). She also told us stories that the local people have about Sasquatch and some competing ideas on what kind of creature it truly is. I sincerely appreciate how much she was willing to share with us.
Eventually we went back to the off-road vehicles, but not before we got to meet a certain friend of the woods....hint hint.
This adventure was not too long so my mom and I had a lot of time to walk around Ketchikan and learn more about the history of the town. We consider this another positive because we didn't feel rushed.
Overall, this was a great experience and I am so glad we did it. I had a lot of fun and learned a lot about the Tongass forest and the animals that may or may not live there. Was this a bit silly and corny? Sure. But it was a ton of fun too! Thanks to Lexus and Marcus so much for this unique memory!

Had the best time! - We had the best time on this tour! Our guide, Alexis, is a local and was able to provide so much good information about the different flora and fauna of the forest and medicinal uses for all of the parts of the trees and plants. I would highly recommend this tour, not only for the Bigfoot lore, but also for the natural beauty of the forest.

Our family really enjoyed the adventure! - We had a great time with Lexi and Captain Rob. The Bigfoot stories were fun, but we really enjoyed the hike through the temperate rainforest and learning more about native plants and animals from Lexi.

Best Ketchikan port adventure - Amazing time with Rob and Lexie. Rob provides humor, stories and fun, while Lexie drives mightily and brings a wealth of native culture and wisdom. Together, they took what could have been hokie gobbledy gook and made it a highlight of our trip. BTW: Ask Lexie about her boat-living sea-diving life. I've been to Ketchikan 3 times, and this adventure made this particular trip the best, by far.
