Great tour made excellent by Ava - This excursion was amazing. Ava was the most knowledgeable and enthusiastic guide. She was patient with our kids’ questions and she knew a ton about local culture, plant life, customs and nature. She is clearly hard working and passionate about her job. Make sure you get Ava as your guide. Her leadership contributed greatly to our positive experience.

Great Local Tour Company - Great trip - Ava did a great job. Saw eagles, deer and baby Dungeness crab. She was very informative and fun. Wish pick up was closer to Ward Cove where NCL docks…

Better than the Movies - Ketchikan was beautiful. It is well worth seeing the peace and serenity that surrounds such a place, which makes everything else seem so small.

Seeing Bears - Our Highlight! - Shane, a local, was our guide, he knew where to go and was very informative about Ketchikan and the surrounding area. Although the weather was miserable we were still able to see the salmon ladder, eagles and we had a stop at a waterfall. However the highlight was being taken to a small river and watch 2 bears feed on the countless salmon. We were on a cruise and tours to see bears in the wild were far more expensive and I imagine not as good. So, totally enjoyed this tour it was one of the highlights of our cruise. Thanks Shane.

Do not go on this tour others are better and cheaper! - All Norwegian cruisers do not use this tour group! Others are nicer and cheaper. I used my own money to get to Berth 2 because the free bus transport to downtown was over an hour long and the tour operator Shane told me taxis were faster. Then he never answered my calls after telling me to call him and keep him posted of my progress getting to Berth2. I then had to pay for another tour for that day. I have requested a refund and Shane has said no to my request. Viator remove this tour from your website they are a scam! I deserve a refund. I could have had my taxi meet Shane and the group wherever they were had he answered my calls the town is very small. I am also reporting this scam to the better business bureau.

Cruisers Beware! - We were reserved on a tour with Shane at Seaside Tours for September 1st at 10:30 am from our Celebrity Summit cruise (4 persons - $280) after reading some very positive reviews. The tour guide (Shane) was 45 minutes late when he showed up and announced that he did not have enough drivers to fill the reservations. He was frustrated and tried being apologetic and then attempted to try to get us on an another company’s tour that was not leaving for yet another 45 minutes. The tour was approx 2 1/2 hours long and we needed to be back onboard by 3:00 pm. We knew that this timing wouldn’t work for our group and Shane then asked if we just wanted a refund instead for the $280 that was prepaid for the tour. I have to date contacted this company by email and text 4 times and they have not had the courtesy to respond to my request in any way. Seaside Tours does not have reputable business practices and I would take my business and reservations elsewhere.

Cancelled due to Flat Tire - We had to cancel the tour because their tour van had 2 flat tires. While I understand that these things happen, what was frustrating is that this wasn’t communicated to us right away.
We were on a very limited timeline due to our Cruiseline’s schedule to leave port. And we had to start this tour on time otherwise our ship could leave us behind.
We arrived 15 min early at the meeting spot and no one was there. I tried contacting the tour operator via the Viator chat, no response. Luckily I met an employee at the Ketchikan visitor center who knew the number for the tour guide. She also stated that “he’s a one man show and usually shows up late” which made it even worse.
I text his cell phone and he texts back 10 minutes later saying they got a flat tire and will meet us ASAP. We are now 30 minutes after our scheduled tour time, and he didn’t sound reliable enough to even give us an ETA. So we were left no choice but to cancel.
If we would have never got his cell phone number from the employee at the visitor center, we would have been waiting around with no clue what was going on.
If he’s truly a “one man show”, then he cannot be relied on to host any future tours. Until this company finds some help with their staffing/vehicle tire issues, I would stay far away from this company.
We ended up going on Sourdough Tours located inside the Ketchikan visitor center, which was a wonderful tour!! Our tour guide even spotted whales off the road and stopped the bus so we can see first hand a whale bubble feeding!
