Better than the Movies - Ketchikan was beautiful. It is well worth seeing the peace and serenity that surrounds such a place, which makes everything else seem so small.

Seeing Bears - Our Highlight! - Shane, a local, was our guide, he knew where to go and was very informative about Ketchikan and the surrounding area. Although the weather was miserable we were still able to see the salmon ladder, eagles and we had a stop at a waterfall. However the highlight was being taken to a small river and watch 2 bears feed on the countless salmon. We were on a cruise and tours to see bears in the wild were far more expensive and I imagine not as good. So, totally enjoyed this tour it was one of the highlights of our cruise. Thanks Shane.

Climb and view - Our only complaint was that there was 10-12 of us and we were all crammed into a large van. Two people had issues, with one being disabled and one being claustrophobic. You can imagine the issues this caused climbing in and out with each and every stop we had on the tour (and there were many stops). But the operator was knowledgeable, it was beautiful and enjoyable, despite having to crawl in and out of the van.

Great experience - The guide was very good and experience in the areas. We saw lots of salmons & black bears. He was very good to accommodate our needs, especially we had kids.

No bears - We were with Shane, who has a great sense of humour. Unfortunately, we didn’t see any bears which would have been our highlight, however, Shane was very patient.

Cruisers Beware! - We were reserved on a tour with Shane at Seaside Tours for September 1st at 10:30 am from our Celebrity Summit cruise (4 persons - $280) after reading some very positive reviews. The tour guide (Shane) was 45 minutes late when he showed up and announced that he did not have enough drivers to fill the reservations. He was frustrated and tried being apologetic and then attempted to try to get us on an another company’s tour that was not leaving for yet another 45 minutes. The tour was approx 2 1/2 hours long and we needed to be back onboard by 3:00 pm. We knew that this timing wouldn’t work for our group and Shane then asked if we just wanted a refund instead for the $280 that was prepaid for the tour. I have to date contacted this company by email and text 4 times and they have not had the courtesy to respond to my request in any way. Seaside Tours does not have reputable business practices and I would take my business and reservations elsewhere.

Cancelled due to Flat Tire - We had to cancel the tour because their tour van had 2 flat tires. While I understand that these things happen, what was frustrating is that this wasn’t communicated to us right away. We were on a very limited timeline due to our Cruiseline’s schedule to leave port. And we had to start this tour on time otherwise our ship could leave us behind. We arrived 15 min early at the meeting spot and no one was there. I tried contacting the tour operator via the Viator chat, no response. Luckily I met an employee at the Ketchikan visitor center who knew the number for the tour guide. She also stated that “he’s a one man show and usually shows up late” which made it even worse. I text his cell phone and he texts back 10 minutes later saying they got a flat tire and will meet us ASAP. We are now 30 minutes after our scheduled tour time, and he didn’t sound reliable enough to even give us an ETA. So we were left no choice but to cancel. If we would have never got his cell phone number from the employee at the visitor center, we would have been waiting around with no clue what was going on. If he’s truly a “one man show”, then he cannot be relied on to host any future tours. Until this company finds some help with their staffing/vehicle tire issues, I would stay far away from this company. We ended up going on Sourdough Tours located inside the Ketchikan visitor center, which was a wonderful tour!! Our tour guide even spotted whales off the road and stopped the bus so we can see first hand a whale bubble feeding!

Seaside Tours proceed with EXTREME CAUTION - I should have known better. On September 2nd, I booked the All-In-One tour for Ketchikan on October 4th directly from Seaside Tours' website. The website clearly stated that children under 6 were free, yet I was charged $15 for my two toddlers. When I contacted Shane to address the discrepancy, he promised to look into it. On September 8th, I informed Shane that two adults would no longer be joining the tour and requested a credit for their portion of the payment. However, my subsequent requests for a refund for the two adults and one child who couldn't make the tour and the original charge for the under six kids were met with complete silence. Then, on October 3rd, we received news that our ship wouldn't be docking due to weather. I immediately informed Shane, but again, there was no response. I've never felt compelled to write a negative review, but Seaside Tours' lack of integrity has left me with no choice. I urge anyone considering booking with them to proceed with extreme caution.

Rude drivers don’t make the best tour guides - The place they take you too to see the bears is very nice but the driver Shane was a rude as could be. We were told they don’t want you here. 😳 if you asked a question she was rude to answer. He needs another job that he likes. Made me feel like a child when l was asking a question has the rest of the people on the bus laughing at me for any thing l asked so l didn’t talk the rest of this tour. Shane was so rude l would not recommend this tour with that driver.
