Highlights
  • Tongass National Forest - After a dozen years of running kayak tours in Ketchikan, we’re consistently surprised at the number of visitors who never set foot in the Rain Forest. Our E-Bike tour originated from a desire to get more visitors into this amazing rain forest. With almost 200 inches of rain annually, there really is no place as lush and unique as Southeast Alaska. The forest floor is bountiful with all kinds of Flora and Fauna and depending on the time of season its not unusual to see deer or or salmon swimming up stream.

Port times for most folks are very limited, so we wanted to maximize your time by combining multiple activities on this tour. Plus we wanted to offer more than just a hiking tour anyway. So we made the trip to the trailhead half the adventure in itself. The ocean views along the hike and from our scenic marina are a big bonus! It’s not unheard of to see Porpoises, Seals and Sea Lions or sometimes Humpbacks or Orcas from the beach.

  • Ketchikan Kayak Company - Electric assist bicycles are bicycles. You pedal them and shift gears like any other bike. They are very quiet in operation and are not classified as a motorized vehicle. These bikes have multiple levels of peddle assist allowing you to choose how much exercise you want to get. Peddling is necessary.
We can cover more distance using e-bikes than conventional bicycles, you don’t have to worry about keeping up, and they are the perfect way to get just the amount of exercise you’re after. They are very accommodating with a step-through frame so you don’t have to throw a leg over the bike to get on and off. We recharge our e-bikes with hydro power so they are a clean source of fun. Our tour usually max’s out at 10 people, so no chance of getting lost in the crowd.

Additional Information

As the pioneer of electric bicycle tours in Southeast Alaska, we cordially invite you to accompany us on a gentle and delightful ride down the ‘road to nowhere’. This path culminates at the border of the thick Tongass National Forest, a vast wilderness where a fun, guided educational trek on a well-kept trail next to a lively salmon breeding stream awaits you. The hike includes a picturesque waterfall as well as breathtaking beach vistas, offering you a chance to see black bears, marine life, and intertidal creatures along the shoreline. The lush rainforest is the jewel in the crown of the loop trail through the Tongass and exhibits continuous change throughout the year. Upon completing your guided expedition, you will hop back onto your e-bikes and pedal your way back to our marina for some mouthwatering smoked salmon delicacies, along with vegan options and refreshments. We offer round trip transport services from both the Downtown Cruise docks and the New Dock at Ward Cove. We also supply top-quality rain gear, should you require it.

The bike and hike tour through Ketchikan forest. - This was a nice scenic trip. The biking and hiking was not very strenuous. they gave good instruction on how to use the E bikes in a nice guided walk-through the forest. There were steps to walk on and the trip was relatively easy for all ages afterword they stop for a drink and a light snack.

5 star activity fun for teens! - Amazing tour! We have older teenage kids and absolutely enjoyed the bike ride and the hike. Our guide Brenna made it even more amazing sharing her knowledge of the forest and the ecosystem we were hiking through. She was the perfect guide for us, very engaging and easygoing. My kids loved the berries they could pick on the hike to eat. Even though it was drizzly and we were wet at the end, they had a blast. Brenna did an amazing job. There is wet weather get available to use if needed. Fantastic tour from pick up to drop off! Will recommend highly to anyone!

Terrific - Wonderful. Great staff. So friendly, engaged, and helpful. E bikes were so easy to navigate. Ride on road was pleasant but not along shoreline if that’s what you’re looking for (but not sure you would find that anywhere in Ketchikan.) There were some waterfalls along the way. The destination was the National Park which was fantastic. An easy walk on a boardwalk took us to some beautiful spots and guides were so knowledgeable. This trip is not strenuous in anyway. Just fun and soul filling for this 62 year old.

Great excursion - This is really fun. The bikes are great and the scenery was amazing. The hike was really beautiful and interesting. I had to drag my 17-year-old son out of bed for this, but it was worth it! Our guides were awesome.

Pickup at the port was a... - Pickup at the port was a little chaotic but the van driver was good. The tour guides and hike were good but the bike route was too heavily trafficked for beginner e-bike riders.
