The entire 3 hour experience is on the water. A 20 minute fast boat ride is an excellent way to escape the crowds in Ketchikan and potentially spot marine life before we even get to the kayaks. When we arrive at our 57’ catamaran in Orca Cove you’ll meet your guide and get geared up to paddle the beautiful islands and coastal coves. The true highlight of the Orca Cove tour is exploring the secluded coves and rainforest islands up close and personal from sea kayaks with your knowledgable guide, although the snack of local smoked salmon and hummus from our favorite local cafe’ on board the mothership after paddling is ranked a close second by many of our guests.
After paddling and snacking, enjoy another boat ride back to town. Keep your eyes peeled!

This intimate, guided sea kayaking and boat tour through Alaskan wilderness is ideal for anyone with ambitions of kayaking in Alaska. Stay away from the city’s hustle and bustle (with a maximum of 6 guests per tour) and dedicate the duration of your tour to the ocean. We provide roundtrip boat transfer from downtown Ketchikan to Orca Cove. Journey through forest-drenched islands and guarded coves via sea kayak, with entertaining and well-informed guides. Satiate your hunger with a range of local smoked salmon, hummus, and other bite-sized snacks accompanied by warm refreshments or a chilled Alaskan beer prior to your boat ride back to town.
- At time of booking, Cruise ship passengers must provide the following information at time of booking: ship name, docking time, disembarkation time and re-boarding time
- Sea kayaking requires a moderate level of physical activity. It is not recommended for guests with back problems, limited upper body strength or anyone who is prone to seasickness. In addition to paddling a kayak, guests need to be able to climb short sets of stairs; walk to the departure point; climb on and off the office boat; ascend and descend a short ladder; and sit on the dock or loading platform to get in and out of kayaks.

We meet at the shelter on the dock at Berth 3. Next to the "Visitors Information - Restrooms" building and Sockeye Sam's Store. The walk is approximately 2-6 minutes depending at which pier you are docked. We'll be present 10 minutes before all departures holding a BLUE sign that says "Orca Cove."

So fun, great views, friendly staff! - Super fun experience! All of the staff were so friendly and knowledgeable of the animals and culture of Ketchikan. Even though we didn’t see any orcas, the views were amazing. We did see a couple of bald eagles and got to hold a starfish! It was a bit of a workout due to the wind and current but my mom, who’s a beginner, was able to do it! We felt completely safe and had a lot of good laughs with our guide, Katie. They also had free snacks and drinks at the end! Many thanks to the staff for making this excursion so fun! Very grateful for this experience, it made Ketchikan my favorite stop during my Alaskan cruise!

Great time! - Easy pickup from the cruise dock area. We had great weather and an awesome trip with Jake, the boat captain, and Adam as our kayak guide. Saw starfish, jellyfish, and orcas as well as a humpback at the end. We were very lucky and they are a great group to do a tour through!

Seemless trip, delightful crew, one of our favorite activities of our vacation and so memorable! - Exactly as described on website! It was a seemless trip from the moment our guide met us at our cruise port pier. We enjoyed our boat ride out to the anchored catamaran and effortlessly got into our double kayaks. We had beautiful weather (unseasonably warm and sunny). Everyone we encountered from this company was a delight. Our guide was our son's age and very knowledgeable about local culture and wildlife. You could tell his love for Alaska and nature. We were able to see jellyfish, starfish, a bald eagle and a seal. The snacks and drinks after our paddling were an added bonus. We were back to the cruise port in plenty of time and truly enjoyed spending a few hours out on the water and taking in all the beautiful sights. Would 10/10 recommend this tour and company! Friendly, funny, knowledgable, prompt, and safe. A very memorable part of our vacation. Thank you for sharing your beautiful 'corner' of Alaska with us!

See Ketchikan from a unique perspective - The kayak tour was incredible! Caity, our guide, led us around the cove, around the small islands offshore, and told us about the local culture, wildlife and more. We saw jellyfish, starfishes and bald eagles. The whole crew was friendly, including fellow Okie Captain.
Book the tour. Even if you don’t see orcas, you can’t be disappointed by the scenery and gorgeous views.

Great excursion!! - Wonderful experience from start to finish!! Would absolutely do this tour again!! Mike the captain, was very informative, and gave us the heads up on a chance at seeing the Northern Lights that evening! And it happened!

Beautiful and Serene!! - My husband and I went kayaking around Eagle Island. We saw sea lions, starfish and eagles. We even saw an adolescent eagle flapping his wings. Gavin led our small group expertly. He even towed a couple back to base after they became fatigued. He was a wealth of knowledge and fun as well. We would definitely do this again.

So fun much beautiful - Do it!!! My dad and I had so much fun. It’s a beautiful trip and the guides are so friendly and helpful. Definitely check out their Electric Bike and Rain Forest Hike, and Alaska Marine Fast Boat Adventure, as well. Can’t pick a favorite 🤗

Relaxing day on the ocean!! - My wife and I loved this excursion! First of all we had to call the owner to help us reschedule since Viator would not. The owner made it real easy and his crew made it even better!
Jake gave us a ride to Orca cove where we met Chloe and Atrayu. They were an amazing crew. We loved all the information about the area and sea life. The food after was delicious. It made our trip to Alaska a memorable one. We would recommend this excursion to friends and family!!!
