Nature at its best in the heart of London - So glad we visited Kew Gardens, at is so reassuring to know that all this green space in the heart of London is so well kept (there are so many volunteers who work to keep these gardens in such good order). The wealth of botanical plants within the glass houses is a sight to see. It was also good to observe local school children being educated about all the plants and species that are being kept alive at Kew. It’s quite a walk around all the gardens, so make sure you put aside at least a full morning or afternoon (also make sure you don’t miss the Treetop Walk). We had a light snack in on the cafes which was also very nice. Thank you to all the volunteers who are protecting nature for us all to enjoy.

One of London's greatest attractions! - If you're fond of botany or you enjoy walking through nature, I recommend you set aside at least 3 hours to explore the incredible landscapes of Kew Gardens. I visited Kew Gardens with my sister and my parents earlier this year and we took advantage of the discounted tickets after 4:00 pm. We went on the great treetop walk, visited Temperate House, Palm House, and the Japanese landscape, as well as the bamboo garden, Minka House and many other highlights of the gardens. If you're keen on seeing all that the gardens have to offer, you should go in the early afternoon at latest so you can explore all the sights as some of them close in the late afternoon. It's best to visit the gardens in spring or summer when most of the plants are in fower. I think an autumn visit could still be enjoyable, but I doubt a winter visit would be much fun, unless you decide to buy a ticket for Christmas at Kew. If you're a fan of royal history, you can also visit Kew Palace, which is included in the ticket for Kew Gardens. To visit the Great Pagoda I believe you have to pay an extra fee, but take note that the pagoda is closed until spring 2025.
All in all, Kew is one of the premier London attractions and if you're willing to get up early to visit Richmond, you can enjoy a leisurely walk along the beautiful Thames path before you go to the gardens. To properly explore Richmond Park, the other outstanding site in Richmond, you'd need at least a couple of hours, so it's not possible to easily combine a visit to it with a visit to the gardens.

Kew Garden! - The staff is super kind and helpful
and the gardens are breathtaking.
I was hoping to buy vegetable and flower seeds and the gift shop did not disappoint! Just a wonderful day

Food and drink very costly, for small portions. £14.00 for a v.small hotdog & £8.50 for a small hot chocolate - shameful - Visited the Christmas event.
Whilst Kew Gardens is beautiful, the greed is unappealing at the Christmas event.
The entry cost, parking is just about acceptable. Once inside, the Christmas display is good but previous years were better.
The food and drink cost demonstrates greed at its best. Even buying a cup of tea is dodgy. You order your tea and get told you have to pay another 50 pence for the cup. Kew organisers have managed to display an ineffective method of a grand ‘rip off’ .
Even staff members were low and not joyful (nice but very contained). Won’t be going back next year.

Stunning Gardens, But Serenity Disrupted by Aircraft Noise - I recently visited Kew Gardens, and while the botanical collection and landscaping are absolutely stunning, my experience was significantly impacted by the constant noise of planes flying overhead. Every few minutes, a loud jet passed by, which felt jarring and out of place in such a serene and natural setting. It really detracted from the peaceful atmosphere I was hoping to enjoy.
I couldn’t help but think about how this might affect visitors who are sensitive to loud noises or have experienced trauma related to aircraft. 911 came to mind. Even as someone without a personal connection to such events, I found the persistent overhead noise unsettling.
On the way back, I had an odd experience with an Uber driver, which left me feeling uneasy and capped off an already mixed day.
I would recommend visiting Kew Gardens for its beauty and history, but be aware of the frequent noise from planes due to its proximity to Heathrow Airport. It’s something to consider if you’re looking for a truly tranquil experience.

Did not enjoy the experience, not appropriate for wheel chair users - I brought my young daughter for a treat for Halloween experience but found it confusing because you can't have this event for all ages .who was this event aimed at ???? Should have been fir children bit adults . the cemetery was totally unnecessary and you should have had a creepy house installation with abandoned toys . The actors brought fun to the event god.
I was concerned about health and safety. The entertainment was in the wrong place and we could not get wheel chair through. Children crying and no sign of Marshall's. No where for wheel chair uses to go because it was cramped on one narrow level . We could not see anything. totally unfair for young children or wheel chair users
Could not see the disabled toilets so I had make my daughter walk up steps .no hot water or water to wash our hands after using toilets just sanitizer
Would have liked the option of a Halloween goody bag to take home didn't mind paying extra for t. Shirt or merchandise.

Poor - Disappointed that the gardens closed at 4 when they are usually open until later-additionally some areas also then closed at 3 including the children’s garden!!! Closed earlier as they had a Halloween event which required another ticket. Don’t want the apologies for inconvenience caused-just want the gardens open longer

Disgraceful practices - I booked tickets for the Christmas at Kew event – 2024. The event was cancelled due to the weather. I fully understand that these things happen, its just one of those unfortunate things, however the poor communication of the cancellation is not acceptable. Kew sent out an email on the morning of the event notifying of the cancellation, they obviously expect everyone to constantly monitor their inboxes & junk mail folders 24/7, I had checked mine 30 mins earlier. At the time of booking, Kew required a telephone number, I assumed for last minute changes. I don’t expect them to phone everyone as this would be to time consuming, however sending out a text would have alerted people with a mobile straight away & saved many people, including myself, the trip & expense of travelling into London. I feel this shows a complete lack of care & consideration for people who want to visit this event.
The story continues…………………………
Further to my previous review: I’ve now found that Kew have only provided a partial refund when THEY cancelled the event. They have refused, in my case, to refund the credit card booking fee, but for others this could have been much more if they opted for the ticket refund protection (I’m sure at the time of applying for the refund that their website showed the full amount would be refunded). Someone is profiting from not providing any service / event at all!
When I questioned this with Kew customer services, they sent me a link to their terms & conditions (which I’m sure nobody has the time to read). In section 22 (they point out, no doubt well versed in this type of complaint) of the 48 parts to the T&C they quote:
‘Please note that the BOOKING FEE AND ANY TRANSACTION FEES ARE NOT REFUNDABLE in these circumstances. IF YOU OPTED FOR TICKET REFUND PROTECTION THIS IS ALSO A NON-REFUNDABLE FEE’
I wonder why anyone would now pay for the ticket refund protection if it doesn’t cover this either?
I also happened to note that section 21 of their T&C states: ‘If a Promoter cancels an event or makes significant changes to the venue, date, show time or (concerts only) headline act and confirms this to SEE, SEE will try to inform you. This will usually be contacted by letter for phone bookings or email for online bookings. IN URGENT CASES IT MAY BE BY PHONE’. As people were only made aware of the cancellation via email at some point on the day, I assume that Kew didn’t consider that the cancellation was URGENT enough to notify people by phone as per their T&C’s (Or maybe they hadn’t read it themselves!) Clearly preventing people, like myself spending over £100 to attend an event that they cancelled on the day isnt Urgent enough in their view. I wonder how many of their customers would agree?
There are many of these events held around the country, many much nearer than me, I chose to visit Kew as I had held them in high regard. After the way they have behaved at every stage relating to the unfortunate cancellation it would seem that this high regard that I had for KEW was misplaced.
I have visited Kew on many occasions over the years, four times in 2024 alone. Needless to say, I won’t be visiting at all in 2025 due to the reprehensible behaviour & total disregard to its customers.

Dissatisfied ! - We had booked Christmas at Kew as a group of 4 and made a full weekend with travel and a hotel to experience this.
Much to our disappointment this was cancelled due to the weather, and we were only informed that morning.
We understand that this was because of the weather, but it was very short notice and a good job we checked our email, otherwise we would have made our way there.
We are still waiting for our money to be reimbursed.
We feel the communication was poor as it was literally by chance we looked at the email, a text or phone call would have been better.
The money we had paid out for the weekend was wasted as the trip was specifically for this visit to Kew

CLOSES AT 3 O’CLOCK - I appreciate this was my fault, we arrived at 2.30 to be told all the attractions close at 3 o’clock because the clocks had gone back over the weekend!
Never did I think a national attraction in the capital city would close at 3 o’clock…really disappointing and a complete waste of £60.
What we saw for the 20 mins looked pretty good…just go in the morning and give yourselves plenty of time.
