Amazing experience, definitely a must try! - This was a great snorkeling experience! The non-fun stuff first - the equipment was all clean and well-maintained. The life jackets were easy to inflate/deflate and had no problems diving or rising. The anti-fogging spray they used for the masks worked great. Didn't have the courage to try out the boat's "VIP" facilities, it would have to be a true emergency for that. Never felt unsafe or concerned at any point during the experience. On the fun side, Captain Katie and First Mate Brad did an awesome job of getting us equipped and entertained with dad/pirate jokes on the ride to the reef. They even helped point out some native sea life from the boat while we fumbled around in the water. While the cameras were only marginally successful underwater, it was extremely clear and we saw nurse sharks, barracuda and even a sea turtle. Overall we had an excellent experience and would definitely book through Pirate's Cove Watersports again! Would definitely recommend the half-day experience if you have the time, two sessions was perfect while one location would have felt rushed.

Charismatic, engaging and dedicated captain and crew - would choose again! - We had high seas and sunshine. Despite tricky weather for snorkeling, we had a wonderful trip and would absolutely use this company again. Their captain was professional and clearly managed safety with expertise, and their crew/tour guide H was charismatic, engaging, and dedicated to making it a great experience for all participants. We were traveling with our 12 year old and he was super happy.

Key Largo - Pirates Cove Snorkeling is excellent - Great help on the phone and everything after that. Our guides were Bradley & Courtney - they were super helpful and fun. The snorkeling was all we could have hoped for. Can't go wrong with the team at Pirates Cove.

Excellent staff! - Katy was our captain and Hadrian was the first mate. The people who work the boat make the trip and these two were an awesome duo. They are funny, upbeat and informative. We really enjoyed the trip. The water was choppy but we all still had a great time snorkeling the Grecian rocks. Staff at checkin was also super friendly and made the morning really nice.

Magical and astonishing - One of my all time favorite trips!!! The crew was great, nice people, always engaging in conversations with everyone, definitely worth it. BUT best part was seeing a 5ft shark and I just kept swimming after it with no care 🤣 amazing experience!!! We will be back

Great Experience! - Captain Brad and first mate Brandon were great. Knowledgeable, funny and outgoing. We went two different reefs and it was amazing. I would definitely book the tour again.

costly boat ride - 14 snorkelers on the boat all were back aboard in about 15 minutes. To big of swells to be out in. We then set on boat for hours while waiting for 8 or so divers to enjoy their diving'. Some snorkelers did adventure back out for a short time. Should not be divers and snorkelers on the same boat. Snorkelers could then be taken to calmer water.

Snorkeler Beware - I received a call from Pirates Cove a few days before the scheduled trip. An employee of Pirates Cove informed us Tripadvisor allowed us to book a trip that was closed due to being sold out. Pirates Cove was willing to accommodate my wife and I on a different boat for the same day and time, only a change in location that was less than 10 minutes away. No problem there. When we arrived, I realized the new trip was scuba and snorkeling together, which I booked the original trying to avoid that dynamic. However, my wife and I were extremely interested in snorkeling on the reef, so we checked in and prepared as usual. As we were waiting more scuba divers showed up. I would estimate between 15-20 scuba divers, in addition to 10-12 snorkelers. As they loaded up all the scuba divers, they called all the snorkelers to the side and here begins the problem. They start the hard sell of repeatedly telling us there are 3' and bigger waves, low visibility, they are seeing Jellyfish all over, and if it were their family they would reschedule or cancel. In the end we canceled because we had nothing else planned to do for 4 hours in Key Largo before the next trip. My wife and I decided to drive to John Pennekamp State Park, figuring if we cannot snorkel, we will at least enjoy the Park and see what we can since it was only 5 minutes away. . Once we arrive, I see the park is offering a Snorkeling tour to the reef in 45 minutes time. Close to the same time our original tour would be out there. I questioned the staff member at Pennekamp State Park about the conditions, and in turn he inquired where I got my information. I told him about our canceled trip with Pirates Cove. In turn the staff member at Pennekamp starts showing us pictures of a current tour out there and calls it near perfect conditions. We booked a trip and had an amazing time. Great visibility, nothing that could be considered a wave, saw one quarter sized jellyfish between the two of us. Enjoyed snorkeling on the reef and made our trip to the keys worthwhile as that was my #1 reason for the trip. However, that made my wife, and I conclude that we were lied to by Pirates Cove Watersports intentionally or not. They prioritized the scuba divers for reasons I am sure most can figure and attempted to ruin snorkelers’ trips. No matter the reason, the fact is they either lied about the conditions or are not knowledgeable enough to be considered dependable. I will never deal with Pirates Cover again and caution others to be careful.
