  • Needles Highway - The Needles Highway is more than a 14-mile road—it’s a spectacular drive through pine and spruce forests, meadows surrounded by birch and aspen, and rugged granite mountains. The road’s name comes from the needlelike granite formations that seem to pierce the horizon along the highway.

The roadway was carefully planned by former South Dakota Governor Peter Norbeck, who marked the entire course on foot and by horseback. Construction was completed in 1922.

Short stops at Sylvan Lake and for viewing unique rock formation called the Needle’s Eye, so named for the opening created by wind, rain, freezing, and thawing.

  • Crazy Horse Memorial - Crazy Horse is not only the largest carving in the world it also has over 14,000 pieces of Native American art. You will first view the very important movie . . . it will help you understand what Crazy Horse is all about. Afterwards your guide will lead you through the building, sharing the history and important facts. “Dynamite and Dream”

Mt Rushmore was great - Great job with the tour, very knowledgeable guide, very memorable experiences. They worked with me for rescheduling when there was fog that would not allow us to go as planned.

Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Needles Tour - We had a wonderful time on this tour. Our tour guide, Mike, was friendly, knowledgeable and very good with the grandkids with us. We chose this tour as it gave both my husband and I the opportunity to sit back and see everything without having to worry about dealing with traffic. We would definitely recommend this tour!

GREAT TOUR - Our guide Mike was a great guy, he keep us on track for the Mount Rushmore Bundle Package. He was very knowledgable and if he didn’t know the answer to a question he looked it up while we were busy and answered it later. We had a marvelous day and highly recommend Black Hills open Top Tours, particularly Mike.

It was absolutely amazing, beautiful, and unforgettable! - Before we even departed for South Dakota, Rich provided a detailed overview of how to experience all of the pints of interest and gave us some background regarding these landmarked sites. Kevin added amazing narrative to everywhere he showed us and provided us some insider information that we would’ve missed if we were on our own. I recommend this company to anyone who wants a robust experience in South Dakota. Thank you Rich, Kevin, and the whole Black Hills Open-Top Tours team!

Great guide! - Our guide Jon made this a wonderful experience. Even though the weather did not always cooperate, we were able to travel “open top” for part of our day.

Good guide but way too pricey for what we got. - Our guide mike was awesome. He had some great facts to share with us. Dropped us at the door wherever we went. Didn't have open top vehicle so that was a little disappointing. Even though it was a hot day, would've been great to have view overhead. The price overall for the your was pricey. 200 a person was way too much for having a driver etc. Only included a snack n water.

Not as advertised - You misrepresented the tour. I called to make reservations with you for the open air vehicle with just 6-8 others. The old woodie-type vehicle is what you said we would have!!!What my husband and I got is an older Honda van with just us and a tour guide. No open air as you explained or picture when you advertise. $299 per person ….. I was livid. I don’t know where the miscommunication came from your group, or Black Hills tour but it was not $600 worthy. Our guide was a great guy but what you advertised was not the old van, a small Tupperware of gummies and crackers, and warm bottles of water. I’m truly at a loss for words- you need to adjust the fee or something. We came from New York State mainly for this experience. We could have rented a car and done our own driving if we had known. You’re price gouging the hell out of this for vacationers. I sure hope you fix it somehow. Gail & Chris Brown.
