Sary-Mogol Town via Sary-Mogol Pass to Yurt Camp
Kichik-Alay - Today, the trek continues in the northern range of the Alay Valley (Trans-Alay). From Sary-Mogol, a car ride (1 hour) takes you to the trailhead, where the trek begins. This challenging trek leads up to the Sary-Mogol Pass (4,270 meters) and Besh-Kol Lake. The daily route involves 6-8 hours of walking on rocky paths. At the pass’s summit, enjoy the breathtaking views of the Besh-Kol Lakes, then proceed to the other side until reaching the yurt camp.

Sary Mogul Pass - Sary-Mogol Pass: A Stunning Mountain Adventure
The Sary-Mogol Pass, located in the Kichik Alay Range, is one of the region’s most popular and breathtaking mountain passes, standing at an altitude of 4,280 meters. The scenery is truly awe-inspiring.
Reaching the top of the pass brings a sense of accomplishment and strength. Below, the incredible sight of the Besh-Kol Lakes—a cluster of three pristine, rocky lakes—awaits. These lakes are interconnected by streams that eventually vanish into a mysterious cave.
The untouched wilderness of Besh-Kol offers a unique experience, with opportunities to spot wild yaks and indigenous mountain goats for the fortunate. The area is a haven for nature lovers and adventurers, promising an unforgettable journey.
Walking to Koshmoinok
Kichik-Alay - Head east, following the river and slightly descending to the end of the beautiful mountain gorge. Enjoy grand views of the Kichik Alay or Trans Alay mountain range. Initially, cross a small village under Sary-Mogol, then turn right onto a dirt road. After 2-3 hours, reach the small village of Kyzyl-Chara and stop for lunch at a homestay or cafes along the way, then continue to the yurt camp in Koshmoinok.

Kichik-Alay - Kosh-Moynok Gorge
Your second overnight stay will be in the Kosh-Moynok Gorge, a stunning summer pasture cherished by the inhabitants of Kichik-Alai. The name “Kosh-Moynok” translates to “a pair of mountain passes” and perfectly describes its location between the two gorges of Kosh-Moynok and Sary-Bel, at an altitude of 2,820 meters above sea level.
A pristine mountain river flows through this pasture, originating from the glaciers of the Alai Mountains. The serene surroundings of Kosh-Moynok make it feel like a paradise for summer vacationers, offering an idyllic spot for rest and relaxation. This picturesque location is conveniently along your route and perfectly suited for an overnight stay.
Koshmoinok - Kozho-Kelen Village, then Transfer to Jiptic Yurt Camp
Alay Mountains - Begin the next day of the trek on the slopes of the beautiful Cretaceous mountains of Kichik-Alay, immediately crossing the Sary-Bel Pass (3,150 meters) and walking via Oy-Tal for a shorter and more enjoyable trek.
After descending to Kojo-Kelen, take a short break at a local home to enjoy a refreshing shower and tea, providing a chance to relax and recharge. Following this, a local driver will transfer you to a yurt camp near the base of Jiptik Pass—offering a well-explored and thoughtfully planned option for your journey.

Meals: Lunch on the way, and dinner will be prepared by the yurt owners

Jiptik Yurt Camp to Sary-Mogol
Alay Valley - After breakfast, the trek continues up to the top of the “Jiptik” Pass, crossing it by noon (4,185 meters above sea level). If the sky is clear, the pass offers a stunning view of the Pamir-Alay Valley with Lenin Peak (7,134 meters). At the top, enjoy lunch and take photos. After soaking in the stunning scenery, descend towards Darbaza-Tash, traversing picturesque landscapes. Upon reaching Darbaza-Tash, a transfer will take you to Sary-Mogol.

Due to the elevation, this hike is recommended for individuals in moderate physical condition without altitude-related health issues. The route features two challenging passes, Sary-Mogol Pass (4,280 m) and Jiptik Pass (4,185 m), with daily treks lasting 5–6 hours of active walking.
Acclimatization:
It is advisable to acclimatize to the altitude beforehand, as the circular hiking route begins at the Sary-Mogol Pass (4,280 m), with the trail to the pass ascending 900 meters.
