Additional Information

Jebel Harim, also known as the ‘mountain of women’, is the tallest peak in Musandam, reaching an altitude of 2000m. Its name originates from historical times when local women would seek refuge in its caves to evade pirates and enemy tribes while their husbands were on long fishing or trading journeys. The peak, currently hosting a radar station overseeing the naval activity in the Straits of Hormuz, is off-limits. However, the roadside offers stunning panoramic views, including awe-inspiring views towards Khasab and Dibba. The mountain is notable for its rocks adorned with remarkably preserved fossils, providing an extraordinary view of ancient sea creatures like mollusks, fish, clams, and several trilobites, which are now surprisingly located near the apex of one of the highest mountains in Arabia.
